I saw this post come up on Facebook yesterday, which is great recognition for Kazza, then looked at the current GPSTC rankings....
Far out!
Kazza currently sits at;
Equal #1 Overall Female - World GPSTC Ranking
#1 - 1hr Result (and a record was mentioned, is that confirmed?)
#2 - Alpha result
Top 4 or 5 in remaining categories.
Awesome effort, well done Kazza.

Bloody legend. I'll put something up on WT facebook page to share with the wider world.

This is an exceptional feat considering how many "women hours" have been spent on this by the best in the world.

Blimey Kaz, That's an awesome achievement. Some interesting stats in there. How long was the course that you could sail before you had to make a turn (ie how many gybes/transitions did you have to make)? And the distance travelled was over how many days?

Very modest person Kaz - did not mention your achievements when we sailed at Cliffy the other day. Such respect for an awesome sailer.

here's the womens hour rankings from GPS_Speedsurfing where all the european results incl Luderitz are posted. Kazza has beaten the womens hour record previously set by Heidi Ulrich last April in France.

This was Kazza's first day sailing on Lake George (only light breeze the day before) and no time to do a recce, the runs are approx 2kms across and the lake is 7kms long depending on the wind angle. An amazing achievement, well done Kazza! And as well knocking out 213 kms that day

Oh my, just read this and feeling a tad thank you all for your powerful words.
As you know I'm not one to brag, it's just a normal days sailing with the boys and my new found twin, Dezza! Dezza & I had a plan that day to start with a 1 hr before we got too tired, then hit the speed runs in the arvo when the wind was SUPPOSED to pick up. We didn't really have distance in our plan, but the sailing on the dead flat water lake was so much easier to get the km's up than our normal B & J stuff down in Tas that we pushed each other to go for it half way through the day and both ended up with PB's in distance too.
I must say that all this sailing down here in Tas with all the lads has made me a better sailor. With the lack of female sailors down here I have to try and keep up with you guys and the hard core conditions we have here sometimes it's either go out and challenge the elements or not sail that day & I always pick the challenge
Thanks to my twinser, Dezza, who encouraged me over to LG this year and to come stay in DA house she rented with 3 other gpser's all from NSW. It was great fun and the guys cooked for us too Dezza & I have sooooo much in common it's not funny, so I think we are twins from a past life

Aw shucks, it was awesome the Tassie crew made it, a big trip for you guys, and great to meet you at last Steve! Shame that the full 3 day forecast didn't show up but at least there was one great day plus some perfect light wind sailing. Just watched your video Steve, fantastic. Hope we all get to do it again one day. And hopefully see you on the bike trails soon kazzaray

That is awesome! And to clarify, you did over 200kms on a course that is 2km long? So that would mean over 100 turns? And I think you suggested you binned 1 gybe? If so, that''s incredible gybing consistency to boot.
You should run a gybe clinic so that muppets like me can break my many bad habits.

I didn't do 200+ kms in the 1 hr though Marty, that was over the whole day with rests in-between. By the end of the day the gybes were just hanging in there, the arms were spent!! I did drop a few gybes throughout the day but it's so easy to gybe in the flat water there.
Dropped 1 gybe in the 1 hr , the aim is to not drop any cause it takes a few notches out of your average speed for the hr.
