Hi all. I have just moved to launceston to study at AMC. Looking at this forum it seems that goats is the spot to go on the east coast in a northerly? But... I am not sure of the location ( if it's not a secret spot) if anyone wants to tell me where it is that would be great

Gday Felix. Goats is in the South of the state about 8km before South Arm. It needs a NE to E pattern and gets a localised seabreeze on top of it. Its actually a really crappy little beach break but can be quite fun at times. Deffinately not worth the drive from Launceston!
For strong Northerly winds head over to Shelly Point at Scamander, If theres swell about it can give awesome Port tack conditions and not too far from where you are.
Cheers

Greens Beach (west side) and East Beach (east side) both at the end of the tamar river about 40 min to an hour from Launceston can have some good days. Work on NW at East and NE at Greens. Just inside the mouth of the river on the west side is Lagoon bay which offers plenty of chop to play in working on pretty much anything westerly but getting more gusty the more south it gets.

This is out the front of Lagoon bay on one of its calmer days... a few ramps to play in for those experienced enough

Felix if you're after waves contact Al Cook, Planet Surf (Al Planet on this forum) and Jason (JS66 I think) they both live in Launnie and sail at Low head, East Beach and Bell Buoy
Nick Taylor (Nickpryde) is often looking for a mate (cos he's got none) to sail Shelley Point...nice waves with North to NE winds, best spot on the East coast

Ant, I've always admired your way with words.
You coming for a sail on the weekend? I'm sure your mate Nick will show up.
