Hi windsurfers, has anyone used any of the Garmin watches for general metrics while windsurfing? I've been considering purchasing a 910xt.

Yep got a Fenix 3

Use it as an everyday watch and works great with the smart phone features etc, about 1 week between charges.
Use it like a fit bit and track bike and running and Windsurfing, daily activity and steps.

For Windsurfing you have to create your own app, U can download the metrics like 10s but you have to create an app.
I think I've nearly got that sorted, ultra tracking is ultra battery life, when I compared that tot the gt31 I got a massive amount of lost data.

I like it but the gt31 still is more accurate, in my opinion

Thanks for the feedback FoS, is it relatively simple to create apps for the device?
For general tracking like distance, top speed is it within 10% acuracy of a GT31?

I've got a Suunto Ambit2 watch and it's great. For general use the speeds and all other information they record will be very close to the GT31's, but it's the errors and spikes that can occur that make them less reliable for posting to the GPS TC. I've uploaded a heap of GPS apps to my watch and they all work well. I used it for tracking distance recently and it had pretty much exactly the same distance as my two GT31's. I reckon any of the GPS watches will be fine for this type of use, but if you want to post your sessions to the GPS TC, then you'll need one of the approved devices. Good luck!

I've used Garmin 620, it downloads onto Google earth, will show track, speed, heartrate etc. Is good :)

Creating the app is a follow the bouncing ball and very easy with only a few options.
I then sync garmin with endomondo and keep track there.

You can Bluetooth attach other devices to the watch like HR and cadence for bikes, foot pods for running which adds something.

It's close, unless you set ultra track, and auto pause then I had a 25% variation in distance, but that's designed for tracking and saving the battery for weeks, so samples GPS rarely.

The file when I last compared had around 10% the number of recorded point when compared to the GT31 which will leave you with some issues.
But I find it will be accurate with distance and top speeds etc.

Suunto Ambits are great. Bluetooth to phone dead easy. 3+ weeks battery life while just used as a watch before needing another charge (which only takes 3 hrs). Can get over 15 hrs use on high performance tracking function.
