Friday is looking pretty good for speed sailing at Montagu (NW of TAS). Low tide around 2PM. Dorans is also looking good, Friday through to Monday. If the forecast holds for Friday, I'm keen to do a day trip up to Montagu. Maybe leave Hobart around 6am. Anyone keen?

I recon Jez is keen, he'll be leaving around 4am so he has plenty of time to get some km's in before the tide goes out and things really heat up. He might even have a friend with him! Breakfast at Smithton before a big sail is always a good idea to.

Excellent ..., great you can make it Jez, and your friend too!

Subways' footlong bacon and egg for me at Cambell Town, followed by an early lunch in Smithton!!

I believe the Perkins' are keeping a close eye on the weather as well ...

looking good for Montagu Friday, hopefully there is enough room on the beach for all the cars.Low tide is at two so if you head out before keep an eye on each other as there is a massive current flow if you end up closer to the boat ramp. But once you head up 200m or so should be all good.

Henty is now looking particularly good and quite a rare forecast having a strong SW'ly air flow reaching inland on the mid west coast. Hmmm, ... What to do?

Launch area is very nearby Dave! About 100 metres before you enter the camping grounds there is a small track off on your left which takes you to the launch area
.......Thats a nice looking spot

Is it just outside of Bridport where the 4WD track starts. If not that's also another place worth a look only trouble is you need a fair onshore breeze and a high tide to push enough water into the lagoon for it to be sailable

Here is the best section of the speed run at boobyalla about 250 m long, pic taken 17/1/06. However it may be worth another look, there has been a lot of rain in the past 12 months and sand moves.

That's it ...

Almost 4 km long ... and about 10 km of flat sand upwind with Cape Grim in the distance (windy)!
