At least it's a different wind direction!! I suppose we'll have to dodge kite lines somewhere else this week
After studying the weather maps looks like heaps of easterlies all week with not much swell, how cruel is that

Hi guys, I'm considering a trip to north tas/marrawah from sydneyfor some windsurf this weekend, possibly staying to mid next week, and been trying to read the weather - do you mind if I ask where the reliable forecast can be found? at bom it looks like easterly winds in the weekend, and that is presumably not so good for waves? And the seabreeze, would that show at bom or do you reckon it's always there in summer? Thanks, M

Mads OS -

'Magicseaweed' seems to be the ducks nuts for accuracy - it is always VERY hard to fault them in the central north coast (Low Head) area.

The bad news is that the weekend looks like a dud out on the west coast... No promise until Wednesday it seems, and then the percentages are still low... (but don't the projected conditions look nice!)

It doesn't look great for a trip this week... blame El Nino!

There where good ( but very dry) south/ sw winds at Marrawah
for 3 weeks each side of Xmas but were now heading into a very wet week of easterly wind not much good for holidaying or sailboarding typical for a crazy El Niño summer(sorry)
Ps
And the other bad news is that most of the sailing spots have been surrounded by bush fire this week and the roads are shut

i think there is a guide to tassie sailing spots knocking around somewhere...

in summer there is always somewhere to sail in summer either frontal wind or seabreeze...but not always wavesailing.

if you want to sail marrawah specifically, you need the front side of a dry high which give a southerly airflow and produces a southerly seabreeze later in the day
or you are looking for a south westerly wind/swell from a low in the bight which produces big swells and ssw-sw winds which put you on nw facing beaches.

theres patterns will produce 90% of DTL sailing to be had at marrawah

as fluro says, Dec/Jan have been a superb year for sailing marrawah... but this current east coast low has interfered with that...

i prefer the marine weather wind forecast from the BOM www.bom.gov.au/marine/wind.shtml

good luck
