I have asked Swansea Beach Chalets to pencil in a few cabins for the Fri and Sat.

There are other accommodation options in Swansea which others may prefer, but the Swansea Beach Chalets are reasonably priced, very well set up, and have direct beach access (timber stairs to beach).

If anyone is interested in staying at Swansea Beach chalets let me know or contact them directly.

In the next few days I will post a few ideas for high wind, light wind and no-wind options for the weekend.

If you are not sure about it as a windsurfing destination, check this out from Team Oyster.

For other forms of accommodation:

less expensive cabins (still pretty reasonable and pretty good beach access) www.swansea-holiday.com.au/

for camping in tents (see above)

for caravans/motorhomes like iceman/rumchaser Swansea Beach Chalets has powered sites with ocean views www.swanseachalets.com.au/

backpackers (next to Tavern) just up the road too www.swanseabackpackers.com.au/

Here are a few options for the Swansea weekend.

LIGHT WIND (0-7 knots)

SUP in the bay at Swansea
longer downwinder from Swansea towards Swanick/Dolphin Sands
longer downwinder from Swansea towards Rocky Hills/Spiky Bridge/Swanport etc
get some beginners/family/friends on the water with a learner board
wine, laying on the beach and talking heaps

MEDIUM (8-14 knots)

longboard windsurf in the bay at Swansea OR Swanick (access via Dolphin Sands)
longboard downwinder/coast run along Dolphin Sands Beach or along Rocky Hills/Spiky Bridge/Swanport

STRONG WIND (15 knots or more)

lots of options, including options for wavesailing along Dolphin Sands Beach or southern coastline along Rocky Hills/Spiky Bridge/Swanport.
wine, sitting in the cabin, talking heaps, wondering when the windsurfers will come back to shore

All the coast runs mentioned have various road-accessible "pull out" options no more than 3-5 km apart, and I will only do if wind is cross to onshore (not cross offshore or offshore).

No guarantees with the wind, but there are at least few on-water options.

This is also the weekend of the Freycinet Challenge multisport event around Coles Bay- which has been notoriously windy in the past- so who knows.

We will see how it pans out closer to the time.

There is a bed or two available in my cabin at Swansea villas if anyone wants to share the cost.

I'll post more closer to the time.

Please bring a floatation vest if you want to do any downwinders.

Please bring a legrope if you want to do any SUPping.

Clarence

Clarence...... Ben an I will be leaving early Sat. Morning for Swansea and will be staying with Steve Sat. night. Looks like there might be a northerly on Sat. Let us know where you want to meet.

A few years back Dave Buzzy and I launched from the end of Dolphin Sands for a down winder on a strong NE back to Swansea. I dogged back close to the beach too scared to venture out, Dave disappeared what looked like a trip to Schouten Island got back somehow and Buzzy limped into Spikey Bridge with a broken universal and hitched a ride back.
Have fun guys.

Weather looking pretty good so far.

At this stage a downwinder from Swansea heading south on Saturday and some cross-offshore planing conditions at Swanwick on Sunday look likely- but we'll see how it looks closer to the time.

Looks like half a dozen at least coming along.

There are a few beds available in my cabin if anyone wants to come at the last minute.

I suggest we meet up tomorrow morning, say 930 or 1000 in Swansea

I will look at forecast and confirm something overnight. Please forward any thoughts in the meantime....

Maybe a longboard session around town in the morning (10-15 knots).

Afternoon looking good for 20 knots at Swanwick (come from Dolphin Sands rather than drive right round to Coles Bay).

Looks like fun. It was blowing nicely at LST airport as I got on the plane. Melbourne is getting a good strong northerly now too. Have a great weekend. The pics look like there's some fun to be had.

Looks like a great sail. Suspect shallow area where some pics taken is where floating accommodation and marina is proposed (including golf course and oval). Interesting, have seen waves well over jetty in good southerly many years back.

No shortage of wind today- more to come tomorrow.

It was a bit variable, but we had a few good consistent blows 15 -25 knots. Lots of sun too.

Ben cracked 30 knots in the bay.

Looking like Moulting Lagoon or Swanwick (from Dolphin Sands side) tomorrow morning.

What a great weekend.

Endless wind, plenty of sun, "new" sailing spots, good company, good food, lots of good photos.

The run from Swanwick out the Hazards and back was pretty special too.

Even in the NW to W ("offshore") conditions, there are heaps of good opportunities to sail as we found out.

Thanks for coming along guys- we must head out that way again soon.

It was one of the best weekends of sailing I've had in a long time.

I'll put up a few pics later too.

Hahahaha. I reckon the run to the Hazards would have been really special!!! The boys are doing 32+ kts in the river (Ben was the only one wearing a GSP) and you are on a long board, rigged 8.0, in the ocean and all alone. Respect
