Chest harness and all.. nice
Here's a couple from the olden days at Greens Beach/Tamar River mouth with js68. Early '00s I think
Carlton Circa 1983 Skunked. The TV. weatherman got it wrong. The best version of live wind reporting was someone driving home in the opposite direction giving a "Thumbs Down" as you were heading to the beach!
Colour Film did exist. I couldn't afford it. I developed my B&W and occasionally sold a few to fund my habit.
Very early local looper; Shane Stocks Circa 1984 Left for Maui never seen again.
Early magazine article feb 1988.
Whos this? Looks like JP?Ive no idea if it around the right time
Noooooooo - I can remember all of that stuff!
Had a Can-opener - loved it!
Had a New Toy - truly awful!
Had a Proto - seeeeeemokin!
Had a Footy Fin or two - COOL - except when there was weed about.
NEVER had a 'pin head' - truly awful (guessing)
It's a pity - as the gear gets steadily better, the body gets steadily worse...

Bought my first proper fully battened sail of Jason, in the Piping Hot shop , Torquay ,an old one of his .
A Gastra 3.7 all stickered up.
Cool man.
...And "The Sinker" Some say it nearly killed sailboarding. Could also be the reason the rider pictured is a "Speedy" Now?
I think this is Greg "Pussy" Pollard. Who made a rare appearance at Carlton on Thursday. First sail in 18 months he told me! 84-5 Carlton
Marion Bay I think mid 80"s
Carlton Mid 80's
Tappo in The Channel I think??. Needed pics of sail to show sponsor.
Note the harness hooks L&R. After a long day's sailing your ribs would be crushed aching for hours. . I made myself a spreader bar in school metal shop when I was supposed to be doing something else. Snuck it out without getting caught. No more sore chest!
Wasn't going to release this....maybe you guys have got some cringewothy stuff to share too?
I'm hoping it might encourage some other gems too.
Andrew Barrenger below mid 80's

Steve Charles Jan. 1966 Winner of "Funboard Marathon"
This Board was YD"s first attempt at epoxy construction. Just glass over EPS. Super fat, light and wide. It went like stink and jumped off ripples.
It didn't turn though! It looked great new. All white with the YD coloured stripes but it became a "piss yellow" colour soon because the epoxy wasn't UV stable
This might have been one of the only "J Sails" to ride on Maui Next break downwind from Ho'okipa "88
Maui Cruiser 1988. Very well ventilated with lots of "Tin Rot" Handled like 2500kg of raw sausages and did 9Mi to the gallon!
Also doubled as accommodation for three. Wide enough to sleep across front seat, rear and "Tunk" which was the most comfortable with a
mattress and water view! Easier to get out too for a midnight wee
Maui 88 on a can opener wiith 87 4.4 Ezzy Wave spider. It had it all. Optional full or half length battens and even a removable camber inducer on the batten above the boom. Loved it incredible wind range. I had it until 5 years ago. Till I got dragged into the 21st Century. David Ezzy built them to last and still does.
Man I wish I was still that flexible Duck Gybes, one handed hand drag Gybes and Body drags 80's go to moves!
Surely you guys out there have got some early pics. The Relic Archive isn't unlimited and only a relatively
limited representation. What about the early trips to WA, Pioneering days of BOL. 90's & 2000's when the Relic Windsurf
Photo Service got distracted by the need to earn a living!
Too busy earning a living to put some photo's up! I've got heaps more, just some tasters until I have a bit more time. WA 96/97
Dorans, Ye old Sailworks Revo 4.4 & glass 8'6 Scalpel. Check out the old Foreshore Tavern in the background.
Was the wind better back then?or were we just having fun on the beginning of the "learning " curve with age on our side .
Thanks for the trip down memory lane Relic,Kaza ,I will go through the box of old school paper prints soon and see what I can find!
Saluting the photo taker in that last pic Kazza?
It's ok I knew him
