Just by chance I was out at Low Head yesterday (time off due to the horsey race and other random factors). I arrived out there a bit after 4 and it was blowing 20 Knots NNE. After a bit of messing around I ended up at Bell Buoy where there was a very messy one foot chop/swell. I sailed with a 5.7 on my 74.

This seems to be the most difficult time of year to forecast the wind. On Sunday I swam at Low Head in mirror calm conditions while a few km away at Rosevears conditions were sailable.

Yesterday it was SSE in the morning turning light NE at lunchtime and only reached 20 kts at 4pm.
The westerlies are so much more predictable.
