I was just talking to Andy Davison, manager of the Bellerive Yacht Club. If people are interested they will run a Course Board (Formula) section for windsurfers, just like the Showdown. It's on the 26th - 27th Feb. Lot's of prizes, mainly Ronston clothing. If interested to run an event (round 3B) let me know asap and if there is a good response I'll let him know.

Does sound good, but agree with Steve to keep it seperate from the state titles (otherwise there may be people who can't make it and it will put them out of contention for the series if they miss one whole round). I reckon we'd need at least five to make it worthwhile being included as a class.

There's also a BBQ, bull riding etc etc just like the Showdown. I'll let Andy know there is interest and yes make a class for us. I think all competitors get a Ronstan rash vest, I know this because I have to screen print on them all. I'll keep you all posted.

Ok it's all happening. There will be 7 races over the Saturday & Sunday. The winner of each race wins a Ronstan rashy with my exclusive screen printing on it. So if someone keeps winning the races they may want to hand the rashies around.
Entries are on the Bellerive Yacht Club website under Crown Series Regatta. Not sure what the website address is so you may want to Google it. We'll probably need to launch from Bellerive Beach or Bellerive Esplanade. There's nowhere really to rig around near the yacht club and there'll be cars every where. We can probably enter on our way in and then park out closer to the bluff and rig on the grass there, nearer to where the racing will be. I think quite few years back, we did sail out of the bay itself, but that was back in the long-board days!!

On their website it says entries close on 18th Feb but because I know Andy (my old skipper on J24) and we're such a small class I reckon they'll take late entries, I'll check on that one Ant.

Who is still intrested ?

Agree with the suggestion of racing on one day, not two. This way we can target optimum sailing conditions (two days in a row of good conditions is unlikely) and also maximise the enjoyement (ergo - not having to turn up for a second day's sailing when tired from the day before).

Are the organisers willing to be flexible?

As a thought, it would be useful to find out who will be the PRO for the off-the-beach classes. It may be someone we know and make negotiations more straightforward, rather than via the regatta organising committee.

This event is run by the Bellerive Yacht Club and we are invited to compete so better stick with how they are running it. You don't have to compete the both days, its up to yourself how many races you want to go in. I spoke to Andy about when to enter, he said entries close on the 18th February, they need to know entries by then to see if they have enough competitors to actually run each class and they also need time to sort out the courses etc etc. So if people could enter by then that would be great, they will take late entries, but they really need some idea of definites before then. All info is on the Bellerive Yacht Club website and under Crown Series Regatta.

Yer he's giving it a go, we just have to get the right board for him, the Mistral he had is a little bit too advanced and the Bombora fantastic plastic is just too heavy to lug around, so a Funster should be perfect and I can race it like a formula board as well. But he's not getting into it like us though, just a fun thing to do now & then. He's more into sports that get the heart rate up (aerobic sports) he get's high from that. He's too hyperactive to sit around waiting for wind it's not his thing.

I have entered and am keen to sail, although I can sail on the Sunday only. Of the two days this looks the best weatherwise, possible seabreeze. The sailing instructions were emailed to me today so if anyone wants me to forward them let me know. Dave Moorehead mentioned that he and Steve would also be keen to sail the Sunday. What they need to know is will late entries be accepted on the day, that is Sunday? are you able to find out Kazza???
The warning signal for racing is 11.00am on the Saturday and 10.00am on the Sunday. Sailboards start with the catamarans 30 minutes after the first class as we did at the Showdown Regatta. I intended to rig on the foreshore along the esplanade in front of Thomas Street or thereabouts. We need to be reasonably close to sign on and off. Be great to get a fleet.

Just spoke to Andy, yes you can enter on Sunday morning to compete on Sunday. Just go to the Dingy Race Office at the Bellerive Yacht Club Sunday morning. Just think though the more races you go in the more rash vests you may win!! I've been sent the Sailing Instructions and Competition info as well, I tried putting it on this Sea Breeze site but it couldn't handle it, to much info for it. So I can email it to any one that needs it as well. All the best with the racing
