Is it possible to sail Cloudy Bay Lagoon on Bruny? How do you get in?

The "spot guide " for Tassie sailing locations might have the answer haven't looked, not an interweb guru like the blokes who built it

The lagoon is very sheltered. Great for a tranquil SUP or longboard sail. Drive to Lunnawanna, turn left at "t" junction marked Cape Bruny/Cloudy Bay. Drive about 11km to a roadside car park on the left, take the 100m walking track to the entrance to the lagoon. This is where the surfers access the bar break. There is also access from a private camping site called "Camping at Bruny" Phil and Karen are great. We have an annual family camping trip there. It's a slice of paradise. I sailed the bay in a 20 knot SE in January.
To get to the other side of cloudy Bay turn left and drive to the Cloudy Bay car park. From there you can drive all the way along the beach to the Parks campsite. Houston has sailed Cloudy from there in a SW I think.

Yes agree with what Relic said. We have camped a few times in the same spot. The lagoon is sheltered and the wind doesnt get in there. Bummer because otherwise could be awesome.

Hey thanks for the feedback. Planning to camp for a night at the other end of Cloudy Bay over Easter so will take the board just in case. Won't bother with the lagoon. On way back might try Sail at Alonnah if breeze right.

Ken and I used to sail Cloudy Bay in just about any swell as the further you go down the beach the smaller the beach break.
Cross shore is NW but it's pretty fickle so you need a strong forecast. Can also sail it on W and SW wind.
We sailed it a couple of times on an 8m swell forecast not recommended unless there's a helicopter handy luckily when Ken went missing......... that's a long story.
Have to say whether flat water or wave sailing it has to be one of the most beautiful spots on the planet

I remember sailing in that big swell Easter weekend, missed the BIG day but went out the 2nd BIG day and that was spooky enough. That was the weekend that you caught Johno.........tent..........
