I know that there are some pretty talented board-fixers down there, and wondering if any of you have experience with Slot Boxes that lose a thread, that is, when one of the screws just spins in the hole (of course its the front one...).

Any clues you can give me would be very welcome, but the less radical the better. I'd like to get my new favourite board back on the water...ASAP

Clarky I had the same problem...................lost the thread in the slot box......................then the screw spins in the hole (of course the front one)........................only one way to fix that and it's radical.......................
Hope that helps

i would defininitely buy the loctite product if you want a proper job. Normal five minute epoxy might not do the job, if you have ever used loctite you will know there are different grades and some of them are like liquad steel!!!

Loctite says "This product repairs threads in steel parts to SAE Grade 5 or Metric Grade 8.8 strength"

Oh yeah what is the board??

Houston - illuminating as always. I'll see if I can get some 'radical' this morning. Do you get yours from your lawn bowls club?

G4K - loctite it is.
The board is a 71 litre Starboard EVO circa 2009, carbon model. Of course, just when I think to myself 'this board is brilliant...' BANG!
Worst case scenario is to replace the box. If that is required - so be it, but I'll try to source some Loctite this am.

Thanks G4K

Other option. go to nubco etc and get the next size up grub screw and a tap and re-tap the thread,, or helicoil in stainless???
i know Naish supply oversize threads for their sup boards fcs fin boxes.

replace box would have to be pretty drastic

I have done the Loctite option and now waiting to check the outcome - Nubco one size up is next...
