Hi everyone,

quick introduction

I have recently moved back to Tassy after 19 years in WA and hope to get out sailing soon.......as soon as I finish my house Renovation in Lauderdale so we have somewhere to live!

Checked out Dorans today (just a look) and it brought back memories of learning, but the water looks cleaner these days.

Hope to be on the water in the next few months... Still scared of the water temperature as I am used to sailing in shorts or a spring suit.....need to invest in a wetsuit.

Rod.
the water is actually amazingly warm for this time of year, i think the temp has gone up a bit in the last few weeks.
Great weather helps!!!
Dont sail at dorans or Cremorne without booties, the oysters are still there!!

Don't feel old Rob. At least you have kept up your sailing while you've been away for 19 years. I came back to windsurfing a couple of years ago after nearly 20 years not sailing The pain was enough to make me feel old. Glad to say that's past now. I feel young again. As "The Preacher" says; "Windsurfing is the fountain of youth".There's a great community of windsurfers Old School and new who are very welcoming, don't take themselves too seriously, love a laugh and are in it for enjoyment. Excellent all round.
See you on the water.

Hi Rob,
Ahh slowly all the Fords are coming back to Tas :)
Karen here (Whistler/Banff ski trip with the Battens).
Amazing to hear you've been windsurfing all this time in WA, you must be a pro now!
Have you still been skiing too?

PS I live in Lauderdale too.

Hi Karen,

That was the best ski trip!

Susan and I have returned with three little boys, (5 year old twins and a 3 year old) . Susan has a job and I am a stay at home dad. Technically I am on long service leave from my work in Perth and they are interested in keeping me on contract basis after that, checking drawings and reviewing proposals etc ( I'm an Architect)

Not a pro ..... Kids have limited sailing opportunities.... WA is great for sailing but I will need to learn to jump on the opposite tack or only sail Goats on a NE/sea breeze

Keep an eye out for a Subaru Outback with WA plates ( it's lifted and bullbar and usually towing a pod trailer)

better keep an eye on the northern guys Rob, they have some great port tack days.
if you wait for a good sailing at goats... seabreezes now start at 4 instead of 1 , reliable... not any more... all old wavesailors now bought slalom gear ... yes!!!
anyone who returned from west, eventually went back..

not all that bad, we have a good social scene!!!

welcome back and hope you bought some good wind..
