Once upon a time a young Indian kid turned up and asked if he could learn to sail with us cool dudes at Dorans..........we had a bit of a think over a couple of stubbies, said yes, but told him if you do one day you might just become famous.
Well this little Indian kid called Saroo not only learnt how to sail, he went on to write a book about his life and called it called 'Lion'.
The book turned into a blockbuster movie which last night was nominated for best movie at the Oscars. They didn't win but it was close.

Talk about landing on your feet or is it a sad indictment of the level of poverty accepted in Indian society and increasingly tolerated in Australia.Is the individual or society to blame? .Certainly gets you thinking when you see a 3/4 year old left totally alone,next to traffic on a footpath outside social security.Do you stop ,as you probably should and test white/ indigenous race relations, risk being abused or drive on knowing that individual actions including your own are giving Pauline ,jacqueline,ect the political power to deal with the too "hard basket" full of society's ills.

Paulines concerns as far as the WA election go seem to be centred around 457 visas and foreign labourers.With 55,000 job losses in the mining sector but record amounts of exports the WA electorate finds its self questioning rising unemployment and a 40 billion government debt as still "cheaper" foreign labour arrives causing the voters to swing away from both major parties
towards the extreme left and right of politics. The national party is proposing a higher state mining royalty but the big miners are threatening job losses and automation how to fix the debt post mining boom is a question for the "real world "None of which matters as long as it blows sub 5 m weather ????
