I"am from nsw and working down here in Port Pirie,does anyone windsurf at Wyhalla? I think it would make a pretty good speedsailing spot,at low tides with exposed sandbanks.cheers craig

Ive sailed there with freestyle gear a few times. Its super windy, and gets nice and flat. Take a weed fin (shallow water weed fin better), and watch out for kites.

PK from Port Lincoln works up at Whyalla and sails there occasionally.
Very tide dependant.

Whyalla is a great place to sail strongest seabreezes in SA on most days. Foreshore is very tidal,look at tide times once it is 1m there is enough water. Weed fin is an absolute must. False bay can be lots of fun in 30 knots when the tide is too low at the foreshore. Also Pt Lowly is another option. No need to worry about the kiters in Whyalla very friendly bunch and more than happy to share the water with you and some are ex windsurfers so say g'day.. Most have finished kiting by the time the tide is in far enough for a weed fin to get out. PK is your man if he's not playing golf.

Usually there is plenty of good sea breezes in Whyalla. But it has been a bit light on this summer.

Eric has given you a good run down of around Whyalla. If you are after speed sailing checkout the Bogan Speed Team crew on GPSTC especially the the crew sailing Stansbury on Yorke Peninsula. Its probably only a bit further to drive.

Live at Wallaroo now and don't sail there much now but Fishermans Bay channel can be good on a s/westerly when the tide is low, not a long speed strip but can be fun, weedy recommended.
Lived in Pirie for 11 years and sailed mainly out the front of Weroona Island, tide dependant mostly if you want to sail over the tidal flats or walk out the channel/gutter at the boat ramp area on low tide to sail in the deeper water, weedy a must.

If you sail open ocean b&jump come down to Wallaroo, great spot and always keen for sailing company.

Pickled razor dish hearts has seen the local population shrink.

I have windsurfed and kitesurfed the area a few times over the years, but as you can see from this old video, Whyalla even gets a few waves! I know it's kitsurfing, but gives you a good idea of what to expect.

Ha ha, The point back before we bought surf boards!!!!
