been fairly stumped by the forecasting lately. Seabreeze not catching all the action I'm seeing every night off my deck at Seacliff. Windfinder hit and miss as well. What are people using for forecasting other than bom.gov.au? or is that the best?

With that in mind, appears a good southerlie will push inland enough to hit boggy for Saturday, agreed?

Also, do any of you go for "windsurfing beers" at the seacliff yacht club 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month?

Boggy should be good on Saturday afternoon as it was last Saturday,

will boggie be good this arvo

You saying you would drive all the way to dodgey lake when seacliff is at your door step and windy?

I like the weather isobars map, tide forecasts and temperature - light sse with a 24degree and filling tide withe wide isobars on a sunny day are good seabreeze potential - close se isobars and less tide and higher temp - gullies are a good bet


It's still seriously hit and miss - the wind just doesn't seem to read the forecast charts

Im in Seacliff fella, i try to get down there on a wednesday, send me a PM if your heading down and I'll have a beer with you, or a sail.....or both

I reckon there are factors like the amount of cloud cover on a given day (and where it is) that influence seabreezes too much for forecasts to be anything but a guide. They are all based on the isobars, which is OK, but local factors can add or take away 10 knots. I don't even look at the forecasts, just the nowcast and current wind readings. Much less stressful.

For example, it's blowing 20+ knots onshore at Seacliff at the moment - that wasn't in any of the forecasts. And it kicked in with a vengeance at at about 12.45 from a light easterly at 12.44.

The BYSC has casual windsurf and SUP races on 1st & 3rd Wednesday of the month. Seems to be a lot of beer drinking afterwards so join in for a sail, paddle or beer in what ever order takes your fancy :-)

Thanks all. Naw, I don't leave seacliff if blowing (maybe if offshore winds!)
Today with a straight south though I think I better try Semaphore as the Marino Rocks Point shelters Seacliff during southerlies.

Great to see a crew of 15 sailing at Semaphore through to 7pm last night - not a bad one.... The seabreeze is already picking up so it might be an earlier one.....

Yeah, and it switched off all of a sudden too. Normally she gives a bit of notice. I'm about to head down there again now

Sunday looks way better for boggy!

Boggy was good today BOM got it right was windy from 12.30 and really kicked in around 3.30. Sundays forecast is looking good I will be down for a blast in the afternoon.

ooooh I have to say I had fun at Semaphore, 4.5 all day Saturday, and the water was warm! just a shortie. I'm kinda hooked on that place, grass rigging area no less. I may have to move from Seacliff! Thanks for the comments and info.

Last night was a speedies dream at moana - ESE to 25 knts no swell low tide and speed runs from the noth of boat ramp to the cliffs dead smooth and no swimmers

You couldnt see the gusts coming just hang on bareaway and fang - every now and then you just get a big speed boost from a mega gust

Serious speed punters would have been flying I was going as fast as I reckon you could ever go on the 6.3 and freetsyle gear!!

freaked a few dog walkers out!!!

Most fun I've had sailin moana for ages - and there were no waves

Glad someone is enjoying the flattest week in recent memory! Semaphore gets a lot more wind - and much better in a Southerly than Seacliff.
