Any good utube or free video sites out there that run through shortboard tacking?
I can nail 6 out of 10 on the plane powered up but fail every time in float and ride conditions.
Dont do many at all in good surf and 20 knots coz you can gain ground upwind in the surf backhand riding after a bear away or a sacrificial back hander. Also my upwind ability in good wind is now good with 94l under me. Less walk of shame just a rest from time to time.
Seen barri and tom doing a squat poo stance sub plane tack or two at Robe

Can gain more ground tacking in stronger wind than lighter wind as you carve up. It is also much easier in stronger wind or with a big board.
The best bet to learn is to do it on the beach with nose into wind. The movement is exactly the same and takes a while to get good at even on the beach.

Cheers James
A bit more practice and get my hand on the mast a fair bit lower and back wind my sail a bit more before I shimmy around.
See what happens this afternoon.
Had a great sail at nene Australia day 5.6 94 and 18k cross off head high. Kooked a couple of tacks and missed a few set waves so gave up on it.

Jump in Cain's, Tom's or Ty's bus next time they're heading over. It's a fun spot to sail and never a crowd
