Going to stay at that point just South of Edithburgh over the Christmas break.....anything I should know about sailing near there? Any surprises going to rip my fin off?, dangerous to cross over to Troubridge Island? The water appears spectactularly clear - but also shallow and reef/marine grass - attracting a lot of marine life I would think?

If it is a Westerly I will probably head over to the West side of Yorkes. I know Port Hughes is a good spot, but anything further south? Maybe it is all good!

Sultana Point at Edithburgh used to be a hot spot for the speed sailing, I remember it being weedy and full of boats, would work in most winds with south in it,

i once sailed pondalowie bay on a south easterly sea breeze, it was 3' and super surfy crowded so i went down wind to richards.
the only dangers there are angry standups and sharp toothed protected species.
my recomendation would be to leave your wavesailing kit home and if your into speed hit sultana pt, though ive never sailed it.
most spots involve a long boardwalk or cliffs to negotiate

not sure where it would be weedy, looks pretty shallow and sandy. Anyway I will check it out. I think it is popular with kiters from what the owner of the house says.

Will post some pics if it turns out to be epic, heck I will settle for a couple jibes in a row!

i had a sail there last summer. its pretty flat with some shallow sand bars. Lots of weed floating around so take a weed fin if you have one

Sailed from Sultana Point to Troubridge Island a few times on longboards. It's further than it looks. Water can get shallow near the island - wouldn't try it on a board with a big fin. Tides also very strong at times.

It's worth a look at, but these days it doesn't seem so smart to sail out there :-)
