I don't own one, but I would love to have a go on yours Ian.

For those of you that don't know, Tom Lenthal passed away last year in a motorbike accident on the Gold Coast.

When we we're younger he was National champion if not world One Design Champion, i can't quite remember.

Anyway It would be 25knots and we're all out on short boards and he would be fanging around on his one design.
A True freak of nature!!
Not forgetting all the times he was tied up and placed in a board bag!!

Ultimately i reckon it would be great to have a Tom Lenthal Memorial race on one designs/ long boards either in association with the BSYC or a massive downwinder from Brighton to beyond.

This is something that could be held in any wind conditions and would be a good end to the summer season.

Any thoughts??

Wow, didn't know about Tom. I Spent lots of weekends chasing him about the race course on which ever board he was on that year.
I think he won the Fun Board World Title
I have the last fun board he raced in My shed.

The last time I beat Tom in a race was just before the world titles, he came in second place that day.
asked him what happened .... "He broke his fin off on the first or second Leg, completed the race, 7 legs, without the Fin"

Yes, very sad news about Tom. I raced with him too. If I recall correctly, he was a World Champion in Mistral class twice. I reckon a memorial race would be terrific.
