4 boys from Warnambool and 1 from Nanimuk headed to point danger on Saturday to have a crack because there home breaks were way to big to get out.
Instead they thoroughly enjoyed head high to half mast, cross to cross offshore waves in 18-23 knots from the WSW. In total 5 windsurfers and 2 kiters had a ball not dropping of the plane for around four hours that i witnessed and posibly more after i left.
I was stoked to get the call from Ric while i was rigging up for yet another solo sesh at 9am and have the boys get there just before lunch.
from a poor memory of names, thanks Max, Duncan, Ric and Peter. You too HAAK and the other fella, told you i'm crap with names.
Only sharing this story because it reminded me of the post and pre sail buzz/banter between the boys that i always experienced up in Radelaide

Sounds like you guys had fun...but the Warrny crew could've saved a few kms - there are a couple of spots here around Portland that weren't 'too' big for us to get amongst it.

these spots work on a WSW wind or SW?
super curious now sailhack are they wavesailing sites that might work with say 2-4m swells? our spot needs heaps of swell and is the only real sideshore option on a SW.
portland is only an hour away for me so i'd be keen to sus them out, or are they a bit black nose ish? lol. im willing to trade secrets

No secret pilly. Not many of us around here, so happy to share.

SW works for Cape Bridgewater even on a small swell. WSW for Dutton Way (Minerva reef) with a nice reef break about 300m offshore, but can be a bit on & off at times.

We went out about halfway along the reef (found a gap to get through) on Saturday morning, but was a little light at times for my sinker. Still managed some nice waves & a couple of jumps, although due to a recovering hamstring & very little match-fitness I backed out of a few.

Good to know cheers. We often get SouthWesters in summer and the swell is smaller around 2m only making it bump and jump onshore conditions.
Reef breaks too! Nice!!

Won't be long before the locals are all in boandick or woodlands retirement home mate. Besides that they are scared of the winter winds.
Won't be too many secrets left once my big gob starts plapping. Lol
These Portland spots will need to be good or my lips will be sealed

I'm good to give Bridgy ago.

One for you Sailhack - I would of thought that there would be a wind shadow at Bridgy on SW?

SW is a bit onshore from memory?

Still keen to give it ago though.

There can be a shadow off the Bridgy town beach as you mentioned which is why we decided on Dutton Way on Saturday morning, although only because we were too cowardly to go further down the beach at Bridgy due to the massive shore-break & not having a small enough sail. We did get smashed at the (Bridgy) town beach on Friday night in 30kt+ bullets, but it was mainly due to the Westerly direction. A bit more Sth & would've been epic. Easterlies work well there also, but very rare.
