Hi all,

Windsurfing looks awesome, I want to give it a shot.

I had a look online for SA schools/training or whatever but perhaps you guys who are in the know can point me in the direction of somewhere I can learn a thing or two and see if it is a sport i want to persue further...

p.s. I am completley new to the sport but I am pretty athletic (goalkeeper in soccer for 9 years) and a strong swimmer (used to do a lot of spearfishing).

Regards,

Thomas.

Hi Thomas

Welcome to the forum :). You have picked a great time to start, as this time of the year is the easiest. Make sure you make the most of it.

I have been only Windsurfing since October 2008 so I am fairly new myself. There is a group of us at the same level, and we all generally sail together. When you eventually get your equipment sorted, come join us.

Be great if you can make it Australia Day Thomas, more than enough gear for you to jump on and have a go before your lessons,

The winds are very consistent this time of the year. I myself will be doing most of my learning during this period. In winter and spring, the winds are much more difficult, and learning is a lot slower.

With the good conditions (and tips from an advanced sailor I sail with), I have learnt more in two weeks than I have in 9 months. The easy conditions have helped heaps.

I have a family get together on aus day, so enjoy the meet and I'll see you around :)
