Mate and I thinking of a west coast express trip (2-3days) - streaky cause is quickest spot to get to and lots of variety - and have heard about good SE'r sailing there. After surfing around Streaky a fair bit back in the 80's and 90's (before we started sailing) can always remeber those howlin seabreezes during summer.

Anyone got any tips on best times to head to Scaeles - what swell size required - we were thinking se'r Strong wind for west coast with a bit of swell

Russ, I haven't sailed over on the west coast but every time I am over there it cranks. You need to talk to Maris or Peter Ross from OES.

Scaeles Bay is a great spot have been there many times checking it out for sailing. Never quite good enough to entice me out on my own,especially after you have tasted the surfing to be had in the area. The streaky bay area gets the stongest seabreezes on the Eyre Peninsulas West coast. When the highs after the new year send in the south east patterns the seabreeze can be relied on. There are many potential wave sailing spots in the area google earth is good place to see what direction wind is good for. Have not been there for a while you have got me West Coast Dreamin.
