Mr Garrett yesterday gave the green light to a State Government proposal to use temporary environmental flow regulators to manage acid sulphate soils in the region.
Regulators will be constructed in the Goolwa Channel, near Clayton, and in the mouths of the Finniss River and Currency Creek.
Water will be pumped from Lake Alexandrina to the new temporary pool created in the Goolwa Channel, inundating areas of acid sulphate soil.
Mr Garrett's approval means the regulators can be installed immediately, without an Environmental Impact Statement
I'm not sure how much they are planning to increase the level, I can't imagine it will be a alot. I think the water level has dropped a reasonable amount since you guys have been using the channel, so if they raised the level by say 1 foot, would it still be a good speed run?
Yeah sorry Choco, I spoke to Mr Garrett in Barcaldine last week and asked him if he could handicap the SA Speed Demons. He guaranteed me there'd be no more Code Red sails in the Goolwa Channel Sunset.

The radio quoted some dude (Goolwa yacht club commodore I think) I think it was 0.4 -0.7m above barrage EDIT sea level - they said approx 1.4 metre rise above current levels but weren't certain on time frames - they said they will be able to undertake boating activities up to Clayton and water front homes will have water frontage again. - I am pretty sure thats what I heard - not sure if thats any use.

Frank Lloyd Wright - what a hack Complete failure Kaufmann house (Fallingwater) - the waterfall under the house made it too noisy for occupants to sleep at night.
PS- In my mind it is one of the best examples of modern architecture....ever
Does this mean back to sailing from the aqua cafe, maybe even straight across to rankings like we used to??? or even sailing at the barrage (now more commonly known as the sand pit) again.
Anyone remember the spot!!! here's some pics from the past. 10th of January 2007 sailing across the sand bank no troubles... remember this day very well as it was my first day when i was consistently in foot straps and harness every run, blew 20+ knots at times, out with rob. Best 14th birthday present ever ha ha:
And some taken from the aqua cafe on the 1st of Jan 2007:
Believe it or not i did actually come out of that okay.... dad got the pic just at the right time. Coming over a bit of chop the wind just got under dads massive 158L board and took it up. Quite funny and looked good when i sailed out of it. Because it was completely intentional of course ...
Spoke to a goolwa local today about the water situation. Supposedly they are going to drain 1 metre of water from Milang and Clayton as a temporary fix. Say goodbye to boggy 2. I guess goolwa will be the main drag for all lake sailors.
