Me and Bigkym went to Port Hughes today (Yorkes Peninsula) for a session. Here are some pics of Big K and surrounds.

It takes me about 1.5 to 2hr. Very fast/straight roads going there.

G'day Jay,

That looks sensational. The family and I are heading to Moonta Bay for a few days in mid February and I'm thinking of taking my windsurfing gear.

Is Port Hughes the pick of the spots in that area. I've seen Warburto Point also get a mention on the forums.

Excellent spot, Grass areas, toilet, shower,Kiosk etc. and most of all a play ground “Oops meant Pub”
This seems the best option down there, The Beach's further up work more on tides and would suit kite surfing.
Its deep water there.. just don't hang around out the back for to long water starting......

Great day J

Noice, we used to have a shack at Pt Hughes and I would walk to the water just North of the jetty. I would sail the arvo seabreeze for 2 weeks straight, never have scarred hands like those days anymore. For learners there is a fair bit of shallow water there on high tide. And for the record, never saw a shark in the 5 years I sailed there, only dolphins on the rare occasion.

ST: Let me know when you're going. I'll be up there very soon. I think Matt Stringer is organising a road trip up there with his beginners around that time. I'm not sure if it's the best spot. There's a few more places I'll like to try.

Yetti: I was going to go this weekend, but I'm not sure what the 40C weather does to the SB up there ??

I couldn't get over how mega friendly everybody was. When we were carrying our kits to the beach, we got some weird looks, but after that, people were coming up to us saying g-day and giving us compliments . I go back to work on Monday, and I only wish I made the time to camp there this holiday.

PS/ BK: I reckon Lee will be all over this place like Boggy Lake flies to cow ****
