Hi just wondering if it's worth listing old gear for sale. I have sails around 15 years old but still seem in good condition. Plus 2 old boards Tyronsea 295 and jump city fibreglass wave/slalom board 8ft 11 inch. Are they worth anything? Thanks, Andrew.

They aren't really worth anything unfortunately.

Th current gear is a much different style and considerably easier to use. This has totally eclipsed everything pre 2005(ish). The old gear is generally avoided completely by the widnsurfing crowd. You never see the old stuff on the water even though there are sheds full of it everywhere.

But you never know. Someone might be feeling nostalgic and will give you a few beers for it.

From my understanding, the sport has followed the age and fitness of its users. I can think of another sport that has done that too.

Thanks for the video, brings back some great memories. Mainly used to sail at Clayton bay and if the wind was in it was a hoot. Would go on massive long reaches at speed. Some days the sea breeze didn't come in but it just meant drinking time, there was always the next day. Great times. Sadly I think those days are behind me but I at least have the memories. I had a Tyronsea 295 and a Neil Pryde 7m sail with RAF cam. And I thought I was the quickest board on the water, until I got passed by a Mistral 275 like the one in the video :)

you could see if an old board like that is tunable. sometimes chopping off nose and making a shorter tail can make a huge difference. in particular when you turn it into a multifin and move foot straps accordingly. great fun to do and then test.

it is a bit of work so it is only worth doing with reasonably nice / fast boards.
