ONBOARD OCTOBER LONGWEEKEND - Beachport

It's on again! October 1st, 2nd, 3rd 2011.
The annual Onboard longweekend at Beachport has been a lot of fun over the years, great wind, swell, beer and this year promises to be another ripper!!!

Neilpryde and Coopers have kindly donated prizes and product and maybe a new release windsurfing movie... fingers crossed!

The format for the weekend is super casual and based on 3 areas, Wavesailing, Speedsailing and SUP!

WAVESAILING
Wavesailing will be based from the Surf Beach carpark in Beachport on the Saturday and Sunday. Beachport works best in NW winds, however if we score SE or SW winds we can shoot to Robe as per last year!
The wavesailing will be run as an all in expression session with the presentation at the Beachport Hotel on Sunday night! Meet 10am Saturday morning at the carpark!

SPEEDSAILING
Speedsailing will be based on the spit at Lake George on Saturday and Sunday. All sailors will need a GPS and will need to update their top speeds daily on the competitors board daily! The fastest sailors (male and female) will be Crowned the winners! Presentation Sunday Night at the Beachport Hotel.

SUP
SUP will be based alongside the wavesailing at the Surf Beach in Beachport. Depending on the swell and wind conditions we will hold either an expression session or heats... we will call it on the day! Meet 10am Saturday at the Carpark!

Is anyone keen to volunteer to help setup? We'll need a couple of crew on the lake that are happy to throw some beer on ice and make sure that everyone posts their speeds fairly! We'll also need a few volunteers for the Wavesailing and SUP judging!

If anyone needs any further info on the weekend give me a call on (08) 8294 3866 of email us on info@onboardsurf.com.au

PS - Thanks to all who joined us on Friday night at the 2012 Severne Launch - Cheers Pete

to all the crew camping out the lake make sure you bring something for the $hitlods of mossies out there at the moment. yesterday morning i again had to rig up out in the wind to keep away from them,
was way flat along the spit running right in close with a 30 fin. plenty of water.

Jeez Jamie, if those squiggles are to scale then you need to tighten up the jibes abit. I reckon the Queen Mary could turn around quicker than that.

Pete, I can help with judging if you're short. More poley's that compete the better. Oh, by the way, I'm open to bribes[}:)]

Catch ya all on the weekend.

See you guys there. Looks like there is wind coming!
For me this October long weekend will be better than the last as I will not be in a plastic moon boot.

Winter woolies may be in order - I'm sure I saw an iceberg there at Easter this year - but at was still 5 degrees warmer than the water in San Francisco when we were there during last years beachport event

There should be plenty of spots to camp on the spit in amongst the tea trees. If there isn't open up their swags or tents and let the mozzies do their thing!

PJ

ps - recovering well from broken rib, actually able to cough today so should be able to sail okay for the long week-end at Lake George:-)

Hey Pete, hard to believe you hit the drink!! never seen you wet, you could sail in a 3 piece suit and a top hat!!!
cracked ribs suck, did a few in trying to "get some air" on a snow board
go well.

Hey Jamie and pillie - what's the best bet for Friday arvo if it's sw around beachport - sailing from the drain, surf beach or somewhere else - looks like it may be sw by the time we arrive - not sure if we'll have much time to search far past bport - what's your recommendation -pref ocean -cheers

if u had some time rush my 2 sw spots might be worth checking friday wich would be an exra hour on, but because adelaide cars pack up and die or something and cant get past beachport lol, id check first ramp robe with a 3m swell it could be knee to head high? and at least side shore. saying that i have never had a memorable bearaway there but good jumping.
reckon the wave sailing will be at robe as its going dead south and strong for sat then gone by sun
all b/s aside beachport needs nw w wsw, sw is ONSHORE

Thanks - looks like a drive back to Robe then - MSW has 25-29 dropping to 19-25MPH in the arvo Sat - could be a bit of fun if it holds out.

Its not that the cars pack up, its because you cant get a good cafe latte past Bompa's!

big game of footy on but both teams bite it in my opinion

have a meeting in millicent at 9am hail so depending on when you hit beachport u could sus it out there and call me to head up or if its not favourable you could head further south and meet me at millicent then i could give the tour of the treasures, either way we should get wet
text or call 0487147887 fingers crossed as its meant to have more west in it in the arvo so b-port might be worth waiting around for even if its sw early.
super stoked
