gday, I dont windsurf but have thought about it for a long time, especially when surfing off day st in winter in a strong NWs watching you blokes.
Is that when you guys normally go out, winter NWs?
Is it ridiculously hard to learn, I used to mess about ok in light winds on flat water, but Im 43 now..
Anyway just had a pretty ordinary surf at Goolwa and then watched the great middleton sailing vid on this forum and got me thinking again..

I was a late starter (36 Yo) and it took me probably 2-3 years to feel confident sailing day street (its a hard place at times)

This time of year we get heaps of sails between Semaphore to sellicks and down at Kent reserve and Day st in nw'rs and all the spots from Port MAc to Ceduna and beyond

If your keen and committed enough you'll progress quickly - get a few lesssons to kick off and get some good startup gear.

if you love surfing youll love wavesailing - blasting along a face at warp speed cracking a bottom turn and smacking a lip. Not to mention fanging out through the break and getting some jumps.

Beware though its addictive - very addictive - as the sports company says - just do it - and theyre a really friendly mob and we actually enjoy sailing together - the more the merrier

Thanks a lot guys. I just checked out windsup.com.au so ill see about getting some lessons and hiring some gear for a bit. And yeah next time I see a crowd at day street lll come past and say gday.

Yeah, matt stringer at windsup is great. Good teacher and fantastic ongoing support after youre finished with lessons. I continue to take his intermediate courses and go as often as possible to the organized weekends. A great opportunity to network and hang out with like minded windsurfing crew..... Hope to see you on one of those occasions....

I remember a "Late starter (55 Yo)" still going Twenty Nine years later....
must be a Top sport for those that give it a go.... and stick to it long enough..
