Well, it was slightly more than a day. We stopped at Pt Augusta in both directions for a quick snooze and shower....

Paul and I popped up to Cactus for a sail on Saturday afternoon. First time sailing there. Mike was about with his kite and joined us later in the break with his paddle board. Bondy was there with his brown snake. Smithy was about and riding well.

We had 15 - 20 knots gusting to 22. The waves were intermittent with quite a few waist high and the occassional head plus ride. As advertised by those who have been there previously, the wave had a great shape to it and was nice and smooth. It was interesting the way the ripples on the water had little connection to the wind strength.

There was limited shark factor, and probably due to the smaller size it was quite friendly (although Paul did his knee and I did my nose). We got 3 hours of sailing with a reasonable number of rides so it was worth it. At least after 25 years that box has now been ticked. Bit of a drive though...

Sounds good to me...
Sandy Point speed sailing trips are a 26 hr drive for sometimes only 1hr of sailing when the tide and wind are good.

Dedication to get a sail I'll give u that much, i thought travelling to Elliston on Saturday for a quick blast was selfish considering the swell forecast, but the far west has a devilish allure

Pity you couldnt stay for two days cause the swell doubled to half mast the next day, wind was lighter but still enough to get out and pick up waves.
Sailed it by myself later arvo following a nice glassy sup session with Mike Sagan and Sunny.
