I would want something better than someone seeing "it" from the esplanade.

Let the scaremongering begin

My daughter was doing Moana SLSC board training last night for an hour or so - don't think it was too hungry cause they all survived - it was still hanging around at 730 after they had finished - the plane was circling with the sirens on for ages - shark didn't seem to be taking any notice of the siren and just kept swimming where it wanted too!

Sorry - it was a sarcastic comment at the futility of shark watch - I feel it just creates more paranoia - if we all new how many times we had passed over or had a shark swim close we would probably be a little surprised.

its just a false sense of security! even if the plane spots it. the sharks not going to think oh **** ive been spotted better not bite this dudes leg off!!! only good thing is that the life savers can be notified quicker and then there the ones that help!

The alarm isn't to make the shark go away, it's to let people know there's a shark in the area and to leave the water... if they want to.

What they need in the shark spotters is a 303,not a siren!!!!!!!!!!

Talkin to my son about sharks, his mate was at Sheringa (there has been a 15 footer hanging out the back of the surf break) and anyway they saw a massive fin heading towards them from out the back. So they paddled in and watched whilst a pod of killer whales, yes folks, killer whales encircled a pod of dolphins and took turns launching them into the air!

i love that people believe sharks only are around in summer, but its because no one looks for them in winter.

yes im much younger then some other forum users but im sure ive spent just as many days in the water over the years. whether it be sailing, windsurfing, kiting, surfing spear fishing watever. and im yet to see a shark. i have been to cactus ans streaky numerous times in my time.

if you wanna let it freak you out then stick to goolwa lake.
you have a big chance of dying if your downhaul snaps when riggin up, hittining ya head, then from a shark attack.

the sahrk spotter is just a government cover up so they look proactive.

Lets hope that you are actually smarter than you make out by this post. Stupidest thing I have heard for a long time. Good way to help the paranoia and scare mongering.

It would be an extremely rare event to see an orca in GSV. If you do it is probably lost

Sailing out the back of my beloved seacliff i had a massive bronzey swim with me along side of my board roll on its side and look at me with its eyes, i did a mighty quick jibe and fanged downwind and went in.
The fish was bigger than my old 8'10" board. freaky ****.

After an hour surfing with my young fella last night - while my daughter did SLSC boards training - the plane came down to moana again last night and circled for 15 minutes with sirens blazing - it was right where the kids had paddled to the end of moana and back - its obvious it it wanted human it had a smorgasbord on offer - I don't think they are really interested - just when they bite out of curiosity they make a bit of a mess of human flesh!

There's going to be a pack of ravenous sharks chasing waves at Day street tomorrow afternoon with 20+knt cross off wind.

I've forgotten what sailing an actual wave is like.
