I've never thought to sail Bashams on a westerly. Always thought it would have been too off shore and I've never walked onto the beach with a w'ly blowing to have a look at the angle. Is it cross off with more cross? When it swings NW it would be dead off shore wouldn't it ? What was the wave size yesterday?

In addition to my previous post. Where's White Cross down there (victor harbor) ? And what's the best wind direction and tide level if there is one for it ?

Good work Dave &to Cain,Bondy,mark,Tim,Maris&Ian..bad luck about th lost rig; seeing Ian paddle in reminded me of th conversation wth Marine Safety after my neck break wearing a full flotation vest 4 years ago , that th Sailboard itself is in effect our best flotation device in such situations,... ( but believe it or not I am still required to wear a vest & hav to apply each year fr special permission to wear a 45 N rrather than 50 N vest due to my light weight ... Go figure!!)

White pole works on Sw side shore .mid tide... Bashams works best on SW,WSw.in a W its cross off..also usually best at low / mid tide( except when it's huge at Middleton like yesterday when it's still working because more protected than th point..

I was down there today Harry, not sailing, just killing the day, and coincidently saw that white cross on the pole just down from kent reserve heading towards the bluff. Is that it? (white pole). I think you've told me about that before. If that's the spot you'd get waves there on some days wouldn't you?

Sailed there wth James T a fair bit.can get big..Bashams is a better wave but White Pole is th fall back option fr that wind direction...ask James ,he's an expert at it.. Likes to get up close to th pole!!

Long time reader first time blogger.
Found on Middleton Beach this morning , what's left of one ocean customised windsurfer rig. Does anyone know the owner ?

Yep the ocean won the battle of the shore break !
A tangled ball of shredded sail and sand as I dragged it out from it's half buried state. The boom and base were all that was worth salvaging. The broken tip was all that was left of the mast. I'm living at Goolwa Beach so give us a buzz to collect whats left 0417 840 970

Professional and entertaining video. I would be intested to see more footage of sailors jumping, although seems there wasn't much wind at times to get out. Very well done to all concerned.
