Announced this morning by Water Minister Karlene Maywald on ABC radio, work has started this week on the 'Clayton Regulator'.
Refer:
http://www.dwlbc.sa.gov.au/murray/drought/gcll.html#GoolwaChannelWaterLevelManagementProjectShe said that it will be completed by the end of July. Water levels will start to rise immediately, and the water in the Goolwa basin (alpha channel and clayton channel) will rise by 1.3m to reach 0.3m above mean sea level.
Bugger.
It appears that no one has consulted the SA Speed Demons.
We will have to turn to Lake Alexandrina for more speed sailing options, and I am confident that we have many great spots out there - just a little harder to gain access.
I honestly thought that we would have the rest of the year at least to keep speed sailing here, but it appears not. Mind you, this could be just more Government talk.....
