Sailed Sems this morning. All was good until the head of my sail snapped leaving me stranded a few hundred metres out. Finished up having to do a self rescue leaving the 5.0 m sail behind.

The sail was just a cheapie so not a big deal. Long story short, I unfortunately also lost my Severne Redline carbon boom and the bottom half of a 4.0 NP mast.

In the unlikely event anyone comes across any of these items could you please let me know - thanks.

Now looking for some cheap replacement gear. Please PM me if you are looking to sell anything similar to the following

Severne / Gaastra sails - 5.0 (wave sail with a bit of poke) and a 5.5 (wave / freeride).
Chinook aluminium boom

Thanks

Shane

That doesn't sound like much fun Shane - glad you got back OK. Did you get some good GroPro Footage of the swim in?

I presume Bondy and I had already finished before you had your mechanical failure, otherwise we'd have tried to tow you in...

Hi Shane,
I am sorry I wasn't there this morning. However, I have an almost brand new 5.6m Severne S1 that I bought in November but never used because my SDM mast does not fit into it.
I will leave Australia 25th of June so shortly before that you may also have some cheap stuff, such as:
4.5m Gaastra Manic (quite nice)
5m Gaastra Manic (quite old)
2 piece mast (SDM) + extension + Neil Pryde X3 boom

All the best,
Villem

Hehe, sorry no GoPro footage. I'm not sure I'd upload it even if I did - talk about a comedy of errors.

Crossed paths with Bondy just as he was leaving and didn't see you there.

I've found an old Gaastra Manic 5.0 in reasonable condition in the shed which will get me through in the short term. I'll PM you re the 5.6 Villem.

Thanks for your consideration.

You're a full on Severne man now Shane

You can borrow my spare 140-180 Simmer Ally boom while you wait to get Vill's boom if you want. Let me know.

I kind of lost track of time but I think I was on the water around 9.30. Had a 5.0 with 95 litre board and was going along nicely for 20 minutes. I must admit I was little distracted after my swim in but I reckon it did drop a by a few knots.

Hey Jay, I might keep my options open with respect to purchasing a boom but if things align (wind / work / life) I may have to take you up on the offer.

Thanks for that, greatly appreciated.

I left at about 8.35 Shane so you were prob out a bit earlier than 9.30. Geoff, i sailed on a 4.2 from 7.15-8.15 with a few lulls in it. Would have been hanging on to a 4.7

A 4.7 was good for me and Bondy seemed to make all his backies

What a beautiful day, the sun was shining, the birds were singing and oh, I found my carbon boom about 1km north of the Semaphore jetty. Thankfully someone has come across it and propped it up for me to find. Pretty awesome.

A happy ending . It makes a change for once, as anything that gets separated out the back you never see again
