I am looking at buying a blokes set of sailworks synchro sails = 6.9, 5.9 and 5.0. They are fully cambered, produced about 2000 and look like they are great. I wanna use em in waves but have to get some knowhow before i get to that.
Any thought on how these perform , in particular compared to the new sails such as North Combat?

Old sails = lots of UV damage.

These sound like speed sails, being cambered. They will be OK for flat water, but I wouldn't take them out in waves unless you like swimming back in with some blown out panels. Cambered sails hold more water in the luff (so they're harder to waterstart), and are more difficult to throw around than wave sails.

For a wave sail you want as much crossply as possible, so the Pryde Combat, North Voodoo, Ezzy wavesails (to name a few) or any other dedicated wavesail with no cams will make life a lot easier for you.

synchro's are freeride camber sails, they where out in mid to late 90's, the will last about ten minutes in the waves.....

The sails have been used very rarely, in perfect condition really. But i hear what you are sayin about the wave thing. Altthough a bloke at my spot has fully cambered sails and goes out in the slop and chop / 1 meter breakers and he carves it. Wipe outs and all. But he certainly has the skills.

Gonna target a used freestyle sail, just for the next step i reckon.
