My question is ...Are the starboard start board a board that can be used after the beginner stages or is it just for beginners only?

I had a "go" board 170 ltr
had a blast in very light wind on a very smooth lake
even if you are a beginner I would go with something that you wont need to replace within a couple of years.
Of cours it depends where you sail age how fast you learn ect.

As someone who has been down this road very recently I would say these boards are outgrown very quickly.
They are very useful in the beginning stages learning steering and gybing but the sheer volume and width makes then ungainly for the next level.
I think a SUP with a mast track is the best beginner board because it will still be useful for surfing small waves and swell and goofing around on low to moderate wind days.
In low wind a Start board will be a dog compared to a SUP, no glide.

Thanx again for the feedback.I ended up with a 2003 exocet cruiser 87 cm wide about 150l been out a handful of times now its just good fun.

I have a Start which i use for mates who are learning, which it is ideal for.
I also use it for ultra light wind days when you can go for a potter.

I have put the straps outboard with a big sail to go bay cruising also, used a 66cm fin and a 7.8m sail and it is really great.

It aint no racer but an absolute hoot, can almost plane direct upwind too!

Boardboy I thought they looked like fun...good to know they are still good fun after the beginner stages...I will stick to my 2003 exocet cruiser for now but at least I know they are fun later on down the track...
