these new sails are so much better than the previous models.the whole cammed system has been moved lower down.resulting in better top end & better swing weight.l like the clear batten pockets.the luff is mostly x ply good weight saving overall shedding around 600 grams.it Riggs on a 460 ultra mast.the luff tube has increased in size for better airflow dynamics.overall construction is good for a pryde.

Sweet! I have just ordered that very same model and size so look forward to testing it! Have you given it a go yet?

Looks like more downhaul required (and that's not the best lawn we've seen)

Of course he has used it.
How else would he know about the improved swing weight, and increase top end, let alone the better airflow dynamics.

He didn't mention sailing it yet. Just described certain features and how they improve performance. The review seemed very brief if he has sailed it and that's all that was said.

2nd mortgage? That cause the sail was uber pricey?

That sail,a new carbon boom and mast........the best part of 4k

For that you can buy a really nice car.

All for the perceived improvement of speed.

From the testing i have done, not convinced new sails are faster, though I do concede that some of them rotate better.

You are either high, or you have very low standards when labelling what is a really nice car. The dude has just bought a nice sail, why rain on his parade you jealous little man.

Nice sail gavnwend, before moving to the KA Race I had the previous version of the RSR and rated them. The new ones look nice, I hope you enjoy them.

You beat me to it. :)

I'm keen to know where I can get a new high performance car for $4k

Yeah I agree the price was insane. At least 1/3 more than my original RSS sails from 2006 I think it was. The marketing on such sails is often interesting. One year finer entry for better upwind, the following more shape forward for drive, then back a few years later for upwind again. See similar with board design.

But regardless needed ..... or at least wanted a 7.8. Severne would have been nice but cost more when you account for a new non NP mast. So I'm NP until the day my masts get destroyed by carbon eating termites!

I'm not jealous-- just that the price for what you get does seem to be artificial.

I see a lot more content in a car than in a sail.

Hope you enjoy your sail.

Yep, nice sail but poor effort on the lawn.

The tushingham c100 430 fits really well in my 6.4m rss and rotates brilliantly. Fair bit cheaper than the fx100 if you happen to have one. Similar curves between the Ka, Neil pryde and Tushingham make it easier to mix and match. I also found that the sail doesn't flatten out with extra downhaul.

I've been out on my 7.8 a few times now and really enjoy it. It does seem fuller down low compared to my first gen RSS sails and can be tough to rotate when in lulls after a tack.

Overall I'm liking it and look forward to getting out on it when I can.

On a technical note: the luff pocket is actually advertised as being 30% smaller. I'm in favour of anything that makes waterstarting easier
