ok, another boring gear question, it's time for a new harness. my current harness seems to have "shrunk" with the lack of wind in qld.

it's a prolimit freewave, best harness i've ever owned. had it for 10 years now and it has never faultered. like it because it is a low support seat harness with a higher hook position.

so on the tables for replacement are.

dakine blaster or prolimit charger.

has anyone got anything about either. personally i think the prolimits are the best harnesses around but the dakine seems to come close.

i do listen, it's just that i don't agree with you.

but i do agree with your take on a good surf seat harness. exactly why i like the ones i mentioned above and why i like the one i now have.

what i don't like about the flying objects harness is the size of it. i prefer low sitting seat harnesses with high hooks that are very minimal. i feel restricted in harness with high backs.

Just got a dakine blast the other day but havent used it yet. But good points and bad points (without sailing are as follows).

GOOD POINTS
Medium height back support
large velcro support strap
adjustable hook height
cheap

BAD POINTS
no quick release spreader bar.
some possible leg restriction when leg is in waterstart position (i could just have put it on too low)

I am going from a Neil Pryde "combo" type harness to the Dakine blast and the difference being that the Dakine sits alot lower and has a lower hook height than the neil pryde. The neil pryde was more like a wave harness with leg straps.

Hope this helps.

thanks pacman,

how adjustable do you think the hook height is? is it just a gimic? the dakine harness also has a sliding spreader kit option. i wouldn't mind a sliding spreader bar for upwind sailing.

take the jump to a waist Justin... Sooooooo much more comfy to wear IMO, and your "boys" will thank you.

Dakine T4 is on my shopping list at the moment.

The hook height has about 10cm adjustment. It has a lower and upper set of straps either side of the bar so if you tension the lower straps more it puts the hook lower and vice versa.
Being a double strap adjustment it would not have the sliding bar option as it doesnt slide across the single strap unless it has some other sort of device to go with it. It is hard to explain with out a photo i guess but i would research the sliding bar thing before you buy. Unless a sliding bar you mean instead of a "HOOK" it has a "WHEEL"?? in that case disreguard what i just said.
i will try and take a photo over the weekend to show you.

my flying objects transit had double straps both sides, so bar would not slide.

took it to stuart bell sails, he put new longer belt in on top strap and bar slides heaps.

dont know how people can sail with fixed hook.

cheers pacman, if you get an image please post it. appreciated.

the dakine harness has a strap that allows the smaller spreaders to slide. it's an optional extra listed on the dakine site.

since going from double hook to single hook i've missed the ability to power upwind.

I have the Dakine XT and it's very comfy and nice on the back with a high hook,I like my old Flying objects better as the spreader bar was able to slide. After being able to slide the bar on the old one the Dakine feels a little annoying.

Choco, do you run with the roller facing up or down? and would the line keep dropping off roller if down? Never had one, so reason for question.
