Hi,
Anyone got any feedback on the futura 131, am purchasing one for light to medium wind bay sailing and am 87kg and consider myself a confident sailor. Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated!.

Hi Claw,

I have a futura 111 and weigh 76 kg. The board is a easy board to sail. I cannot carve gybe but do flare gybe the board on one direction and tack the other. With the 111 you have to get round the front fast as there is not much volume at the front of the mast. For your weight you might want to look at a 122. I mainly sail a carve 145 but when the wind picks up I go for the 111 with a 7.5m sail which the board does carry no problem. The 133 would get you home if the wind dies but I still have no trouble getting home on the 111. See if you can demo a 122 before you purchase a 133.

I had the 122, awesome board, early planning, good acceleration, very confortable.(the one in my avatar)

You need (as with nearly every board) to change the fin.

I was really surprised at the beginning as I felt like I was cruising around(I'm used to be blasting around on my RRD 112)

Said to myself "oh well, it's a freerace board, can't be as fast as the others" and then I realized that not only no one was catching up on me but I was passing quite a few guys !!
It's fast but so confortable that you don't really have that speed sensation.

Gybes are real easy with it, just push hard on the rails as you get in the curve and make it real large, you'll finish it still on the plane !!

My only concern (and personal feeling) is that the straps are a real piece of sh!t ! I replaced mine with chinook ones, much better !!

I weigh 90 kg for 1.83 cm and was using my 7.8 Rs slalom with it from 14knts to 18knts. So 131 could be a bit of an overkill for you.
I actually sold it to buy a 135 SP for light winds as I found it was a bit too close to my 112 sizewise.

Hope it helps.

I had the 122 and am about you weight.
Found it a good light wind board with a 7.8 in 12 to 20knots.
Yes and changing the fin made a huge difference on this board.

Thanks guys,

Looking into scaling back to a 121ltr, my largest sail is a 7.0 so it seems appropriate. I just like the feeling of being able to uphaul when i,m 10km out and the 131 looked nice and secure if ya know what I mean.

Sure do, but you'll have no problems uphauling a 7m on the 121.

Does not come with a fin!! but I got one thats ok, and found an old 37.5 gudgo pointer in the shed which works real well. Smokin fast board and handles the chop like its nuthin, better than I would have thought and way better than my old supasport 118. And yes I can uphaul it no prob.
