Does anyone know why manufactures (incl. Severne) inform boom diameter under the grip?

E.g Enigma wave diameter spec is 25mm, but actual diameter is over 29mm? Same with 211components.com carbon booms, spec is 27mm and actual diameter was 31mm.

At least I´m using my booms with grip

My Enigma measures 27mm with the grip, while its wet! Not sure what you are measuring (I used a vernier)

So it seems there´s quite a bit variance between the individual booms. I need to measure my other enigma booms, maybe they are closer the specs.

For those not in the know the Enigma tapers from thick in the front to thinner in the rear. Thanks for the image Finland, can you show a measurement from halfway between harness lines and end of the carbon arm towards the tail section(about where the backhand goes). Cheers.

Dan, should there always be a problem before asking a question, ain´t there also room for curiocity in this industry?
At least I´m curious to know why give a diameter without 2mm thick grip, ?
I guess there´s no problem if all manufactures give diameter same way, then it would be easy to compare booms before you buy it.. not everyone can test and try booms before purchasing one :) you know twenieth century online shopping.. you check the specs and buy. But it´s fair to say that most consumers are happy if they get a boom which has a correct length and affordable price .. but maybe Enigma Carbon booms are not for them.

You may see this as misinformation but after you sail with the boom half a dozen times you will forget all about it!!!! Personally i think any thinner would not be right

As I mentioned I was just curious to know. Enigma is the best boom I have ever used. And if you have small hands or you need neopren gloves these thin booms are best.

The alu tube is also easy to measure consistently, whereas the EVA grip compresses so one person might measure a smaller diameter because the squeeze the calipers more...."

Not really closed....... Do you take into account the thickness of your neoprene gloves whilst considering the apparent thickness of the boom? Hypothetically speaking

Buzzy, it was and is calibrated, but you are right that digital verniers ain´t as good as "analog" ones
But I got the answer to my question, so case closed..
