I'm in the market for some new sails, I just shredded a NP search and I think I need something a bit stronger. Interested in any ideas. I have vascilated between north and Pryde for the last 12 years, but things have changed any suggestions?

Try and get your hands on some of the new Maui Sails Legend or Global wave sails. I've just tried the Switch (freeride) and Loco (freestyle) sails, if there anywhwere near as good as these sails you're gonna love 'em.
They've just arrived in Australia so you'll have to ask around at your local shops and get some demo sails sent over from Glascraft in Adelaide.
Worth the effort though, these sails are magic.

for good bomb proof wave sail, should try the sailworks revo's.there a lot more powerful than the pryde sails. good price at the moment too for the 07 models..

the new naish force sails look hot, unrolled a new 08 last week.

If you are looking for grunt and durability i reccomend you check out the Severne Renegade (all x ply, can be rigged full with a really springy feel) - which is surprisingly light for such construction and can be tuned to deal with windy stuff too. The Renegade becomes the Gator for 2008- in the wave sizes the functionality holds the same focus (tough, light, grunty)

As a heavier rider (87 kg) i personally like the drive and early planing this style delivers! And with this construction i dont find myself making trips to the sail repairer.superfreak boujmaa Guilloul uses these to unleash his chaos upon the waves.

Matt does the new gator rig on the same mast for the 5.4 and 4.7 sizes?

cant go rong with any hot sail, i have the smack wich is a pure wave, it is buetiful but it does need a skiny, we also have a 6.0mtr super freak although isnt a pure wave, its a cross, it is extremely strong and the best sail ever made in my opinion, i also have just brought a custom 5.3 super freek for my main wave sail, but i cant get it till around september because of the whole 2008 model and being a custom. but hot sails are exelent, but theyr also not cheep, im going to eventually get a goya sail, but atm im broke, but i have heard that they are one of the best sails out, i may also get a 5.8 superfreek, but first i need to get some money. if your located in WA perth area, you should go down to windshack alberto should have a demo sail, i think he has a 5.0 superfreek most of the time, but dont hold me to that.

As Jordan says, you can't go wrong with any hot sails, those sails are top quality and bombproof, I've got no idea of what are the reviews from the european magazines for those sails ( right now I can't bother to read it) , but what i've seen in australia over the last seasons is that all the guys owning Hot Sails Maui are good Waveriders and even if they are a minority, if you pay atention, they are more and more australians trusting in those sails ;

The same happens with Goya sails, and for those sails I can share my own experience, I've been sailing now for more than 18 month with Goya sails (because I choose it, not because I had a good deal)and I'm still as happy as I was the first day ;
when in the same time i've seen guys going through 2 or more sets of sails, i'm still using the same 4,1 and 5,3, and only upgraded my 4,7 last november because I wanted to try the new models,
said in another way, I got smashed on the reef thousands of times in gnaraloo, margaret river and more recently gearies, I crashed thousand of loops and I compet in all the WA events with not much more than 1 set of 3 sails that i'm still using and are still in really good conditions

by the way, the guys (francisco Goya and his team) have been working hard on the 2008 models of goya sails, as soon as I got more info, I'll put a post in the forum

it looks like the wind picked up now (i hope it won't drop off as soon as I hit the beach !),
