Does anybody know the weight of a 1.0 / 1.5 Ezzy/Chinook kids rig?
I have materials for a home-made rig for my 4 year old, 1 or 1.2 sqm, it would weigh 3 kg (excluding mast base.)
I am curious to see how much better the off-the-shelf is, to decide whether it's worth it.
I have found the iRig (inflatable) is 1.2 kg (and $400), and the Whipperkids is 1 Kg ($300), but neither of them look like the real deal. I'd get the Ezzy if anything.
Anybody knows?
Thanks
I don't know what is the weight, however I do know that my daughter when she was 7-8 was having fun on the 1.5 and she was uphauling that without any problem. But was struggling a lot with a 3.3 regualar wave sails and 340 rdm mast and carbon boom, So weight is a big issue to help kids to progress at young age. Also, I was using my Sealion ahd or the Go...and a centerboard fin would have been very nice to be able to go upwind better. I think the best would be a kids board with eva deck, a Go is very big and if she puts the sail back or in front, the board turn barely, but she got a lot of fun, I just have to fallow her with a sup and a leach and I bring her back at the starting point once in a while.
