I've had that boom (simmer black line 180-240) for the last 18 months and very happy with it. It has the tapered arms so thinner where you grip but thicker in the tail for stiffness. I use the boom for sails from 5.5 to 8.4

doesnt come with adjustable outhaul so you need to buy that separately.

The current 2019 Simmer 180-240 SX10 the replacement for the blackline the arms are straight not tapered. The Sx10 180-240 is a great boom.

I got both the new 2019 SX10 180-240 and SX8 180-240 and used them on the water.
The boom arm is tapered on both booms, just to clear that up. (thicker in the tail section for better stiffness)

Great booms and very stiff.

Actually all the fittings appear to be Aeron/TD so likely the tubes are as well... Same as Goya etc...

I guess it depends what you mean by "Aeron" parts. Those parts look almost definitely from the Aeron factory, unless you know for a fact otherwise, but I would be very surprised if that were so. Nothing wrong with it. Very few booms out there not using at least some parts from that factory & most made 100% there - some with proprietary parts others with badged generic parts or a mix.

yes like on chinook booms...sorry for OT

info from simmer sails....Hi UWe, Correct. These booms are not produced by Aeron. We produce these boom our self in our own factory.

Interesting, the Simmer look good. And yes Chinook use a mix of USA made & Aeron factory components - but the Carbon tubes are 100% made in USA with their own molds. I am very surprised if Simmer actually has there own factory since they do not sell that many booms worldwide & tooling costs are VERY high. In fact it appears at least one other boom is made in whatever factory Simmer is using - if not Aeron see: point-7.com/

Again nothing wrong with it, looks like a great boom.

To clear it up even more The comparison was being made between the 2017 Blackline 180 which had a large difference between the front and tail of the boom arm end diameter which was very noticeable when moving your backhand back.. Simmer changed this for the 2018 Blackline 180 and now the 2019 SX10 180 which has a very minor taper that is barely noticeable.

I have used both booms.

Just wanted to clear it up so people don't thing there was no change in the taper for the SX10 180 boom.
