I read a comparison between the Icon and Blade but what about the Swat?
I have 07 Icons that need changing and I am considering the Swats.
Any idea how these will rig on north gold rdm masts?
Are the Swats powerful? I am about 78-80kg.
I do mainly DTL sailing but also a bit of cross-on.
Any info is appreciated.

on paper at least id have guessed the more direct comparison would be Simmer blacktip V Swat ie both 4 battens?

I have the 2011 simmer icons, but considering trying a Severne for the hell of it as their right ups are always so good. Id be keen to hear the feedback as well...but also for me personally more interested in "S1 Vs Blade", as im sure its not as simple as sideshore / onshore or light / heavy weight rider?

I've got a 2012 Swat to test alongside a Blade, Icon and hopefully soon a Blacktip. I've already tried the S1, which I really liked. Trouble is it's just turned cold here in sunny england so testing may have to wait until the temperature hits 5º.

I doubt it'll rig well on the North mast (the Simmer didn't and it's a closer match, I think), but I've got a platinum I can stick up it and see.

Interestingly, the UK Severne distributors are not pushing the Swat in a big way. I couldn't find one advertised anywhere and they only seem to be available to those who specifically ask. I don't think the 2011 Swats reviewed that well, so maybe that's why.

I have the 2012 SWAT's and love them! I think you will find them lighter in actual weight and in feel than the Icon. The 2012 swat has a big tuning range and can be set with good power, but I reckon the Blade would be a bit more powerful. For me the swat is good partly due to its price, and I find it a light, responsive and stable compact sail. The 2011 swats didnt get the best review's, the 2012 is a completely different sail.
