Apologies if this has been discussed previously but has anybody got experience using an RDM with an Overdrive R6 7.8m (or any other size for that matter)

Friends do use the OD up to 7,8 with RDM masts but they are also on the lighter side with sub 70kg.
Some do even use the Ezzy 460 mast and seems to very happy, but again, they are lighter still they are fast and enjoy a long day of sailing with an easy sail.

I've just got a 5.6 and 6.2 R5 about a month ago. Use the 5.6 on a Naish and also a Ezzy 400. The Naish went alright however the Ezzy was not that good at the top end wind range of the sail, didn't twist off and started to lift me out of the water. This is in 25-30knts of dense wind.Did a 41.7knt 2s peak at lake G in SA, last month on the 5.6 with the naish.

I'm going through a few questions at the moment as well with the 6.2 rigged on a 430 Naish RDM. I've also used it on a older severne 430 RDM. I'm not sure what you are finding Sausage, however ive got a lack of tension around the luff pocket at the 2nd cam. I can't get it out no matter how many spacers or batten tension, on either mast. I haven't got an SDM to try and see the difference. It seems to still go ok. The 5.6 has the same issue but not quite so bad

No first hand experience but had an opportunity to purchase a ODR6 7.8 and have sailed loft racing blades successfully with rdm's after a horror run with sdm's in the open ocean. Dealer feedback wasn't overly positive using rdms in the bigger sizes so my initial post was more if anyone had success with rdms. I like the added security sailing out wide with the rdms.

Brian, the info I have from Severne is RDM for the 6.2 and below and SDM 7.0 and up. I rigged my Ezzy 460 in the ODR6 and R5 and doesn't look right - so haven't sailed it. I've got the SDM90 Severne mast, so just use that personally. One possible solution: I've got some Severne Redline (100%) RDM masts in the shop, so you're welcome to try one when you come down for Windfest.
