Hi I've got 2 Severne Gorilla G2 masts in a 400 abd 430
On the Severne website they mention the sections are interchangeable
Dows that mean I could use the top of my 400 mast and the bottom of a 340 to get a total mast length of 370 which is what I need for my 4.2 Blade
A 3.7 Blade needs a 340 and I can't afford two new masts hence why I'm exploring this option
Sent Severne a message via their website but they haven't replied
Any advice much appreciated
cheers

3.7 blade has adjustable head, so you can use it with 370. 370+370=340+400 anyways.

Hi Sea Lotus
Thanks for the reply
i know the 3.7 has an adjustable head but rigging on a 370 would make it twitchy so I've been told especially as I'm only 70kgs hence why I am keen to learn more about interchangeability of top and bottom sections of masts across the range as ideally I'd like to rig the sails on the recommended mast length
cheers

Looking at the current Severne website, it shows the 3.7m sets on a 340cm mast even though the luff length is 372. To me this indicates that Severne want the mast to be softer, otherwise they would recommend the 370 mast. So if you put a 340 bottom and 400 top I reckon the top would be far too stiff. Its not just the total mast length, but the bend curve which also counts. They may say the sections are interchangeable, but dont recommended it on the sail specs, its all 1 size of mast. Unlike Ezzy, who for instance, for a 3.7m Wave recommend 340/370. Ezzy only recommend mixing mast sections 1 size apart, not 2 sizes apart like you are suggesting.

I am 63kg and i use 3.7 blade with 370 mast, its not too stiff, 4.2 with 370 is perfect, however i use 370 bottom and 400 top for 4.7, which feels too stiff with full 400 as recommended.
I think 370 would be better option.
