Just came in today. Properly banged up in shipping, super lightly wrapped so couple of good dings on the grip. No fragile markings on the box. Potential mistake right there.
It's as light as any other skinny boom, 2.1kg with 34" lines attached. 1.88kg without, as stated on the website as well.
My GA boom, same size is 1.99kg, naked weight. Comparing to GA the Severne feels a tad bit softer just bending in hand, but I'm quite sure it makes no difference on the water. GA was becoming loose in the head....
Head looks fine, no shim but built for RDM only, good.
Nice big clamp lever so it's comfortable to operate in cold. Relief pattern underneath the sides of the lever for better grip is a nice touch too. Always liked the similar oversized lever on my old Aeron.
No nonsense outhaul as most of the skinny booms have these days.
No rubber bumps on the back end outer corners. Kinda nice to have em if de-rigging in a car park or on other hard surfaces.
Low quality ropes as seen on most other booms.
Production error on the bend of the backend of the boom can be seen on the picture. Not very reassuring I must say...
Let's see how it lasts.
