Not sure which way to go, Have only one board, a '03 fanatic cross100 and sails of 4.7, 5.3 ,6.0 and a 7.0, this set up enabled me to have just the one board but when she blows 30+ i hangin for dear life on cross and she takes off on me a hell of a lot, Sooooo any suggestions on what ishould do, Buy a cheap 75 - 85 ltr board for the highwind speed days or trade her in on a modern 80ish litre board as i enjoy the higher wind sailing a lot more and get a120 litre board and maybe a bigger sail later?

What combo have some of you guys and gals got, In Perth 85kg's and keen for these speed events

1 x 110ltr freeride for 6.5 and 7.5 sails
1 x 76ltr wave board for 5.6 and 4.7 sails

This combo does me for just about any wind strength.

Katapult, yeh that is what im thinkin, one board not enough at all, was ok when in cetral vic no water for 1 hr 40. But mmmm i think i'l trade the cross in on a modern 80ish and bet myself a 110 -120 cruiser, or is that 2 much of a gap? so simular Katapult only i got 15 kgs on ya hence the more volume, Make sence? I think im talkin myself into it.....done

Hey Lenny, the old cross still goin' strong? My X90 is looking a bit old, as some seams split along the side and down the back, she was suckin' water in for a while until I noticed (or someone else did). Had to rip her open in a coupla spot to dry out, so lookin' pretty patchy. But still love it!! I use it here in everything, have a 4.2, and when that's getting used it definately tries to take off and fly. But am getting an '05 Starboard Evo 80 to use in PNG, where I have a big lagoon and then reef break, and constant 20-25 from june-jan. I reckon I'll bring it back here for those windy days, although thinking about going a smaller second hand one about 70-75L for the 4.2. But where's all the wind now? Come on Huey!!!

Be warned speed is a never ending search for more $ to go faster.

I'd get 2 boards try to keep them at most 40L apart, but i wouldn't go less than 80L with you're weight. There is the odd day where you will want smaller than that but unless you want a 6 board quiver learn to live with it.

Are you looking at going into the waves at all? Alot of modern freewave boards are quite quick but are held back by the fins and finbox they use.

As for the big board, most supercross boards (exocet scross, starboard stype etc) will easily see you reach 30knots on gps yet remain quite useable in the chop.

And I agree with Windy Miller, I have 6 boards but would only use 3 of them 98% of the time.

The 2 board combo works for me for everything. I can plane on the 110lts in 10-12kts with the 7.5m. By the time that board gets a little hairy I can easily swap down.

Go for an 85ltr wave / freewave + 120ltr freeride?
