Here is some pics of the RRD Wave Thruster. Picked it up from Paul @ Second Wind on Friday. They have the full RRD range in stock now. First impressions are a very high quality product. Bottom has a clear gloss coat not the flat finish. Fins fitted perfect. And yah get the biggest sticker ever made

Here's a few pics of the RRD Wave Thruster 76. (The wind is only around 12-15 knots when I took these).

Awesome boards that seem to do everything well, early planing, good upwind and nice and loose. A few other people have sailed mine in the last few days and all seemed impressed.

RRP for the Thruster is around $2600. The Twin Fin was $300 less. Those prices are a bit better than some of the other boards I looked at (up to $3000).

As Deano said the finish of the boards is first class. The straps are DaKine and the fins are Maui Fin Company. The pads are great, not so soft that your feet slide under the strap, but really comfortable.

Been using the Evil Twin a fair bit but haven't bought one.
Was going to hold out for the Starboard quad, but now i might consider this thruster if its as good as you say.

thanks sloth was interested in comparing it to my stone thruster which i love. i saw one at the beach the other day. interesting the way they've done the side fins like a powerbox in a fairly high stress area when jumping.

always liked the look of rrd stuff myself and kind of looks similar to tabou stuff. why is it we don't see more of it in oz?

RRD slower to plane, a smoother ride, felt a bit slower, turn feels smoother flows more but a little less drive to get back up to the lip, jumping felt similar. I preferred the RRD.

If you like the Stone Thruster you will feel comfortable on the RRD. I like Stoneys boards as well and that's what I would have gone for if the chance to get hold of the RRD wasn't there. The Mini Tuttle boxes for the side fins on the RRD do look nice and strong. I'm really impressed with the finish of them.

The boards have a similar feel to them, even though they look quite different. The RRD feels like it planes a little earlier and is a bit faster, and the SSD feels like it bottom turns a bit tighter (at least the one I compared it to felt like that).

I'm definitely happy with with my choice of board this year. Here is a few more pics of my son sailing my 76l RRD in no wind again. His small board is a custom 55 litre SSD thruster, and he loves the riding the new RRD. Actually we liked the 76l so much we have now got a 68l to share. I think it's a good test of a board if someone small can throw so much volume around.

Finally got into some waves, 4.7 at Lano on Saturday. Compared to my Evo 80 the RRD is much looser to turn, easier off the top, smoother ride in chop, very stable bobbing over large walls of white water, pops nice into jumps. Pretty darn happy with it all round

Also rode my newish 2009 Evo 75 ltr with fully powered 4.2. Really nice to be on such a small board in the surf, having never ridden a board smaller than 80 ltrs in the surf. (I'm 92kg and 6'3"). This was just a really nice easy to ride plug and play board. Being so small, for me anyway, it did everything well
