I've started using a PAQUA recently for my GT-11 + GT-31 GPS units. I'm very impressed with it. The two units fit neatly into the PAQUA with ample clear plastic to view the two screens. The clear plastic is soft enough to make operating the GPS unit through the pouch easy, and the water proof abilities of the pouch seem to be very good. I've had a couple of high-speed crashes lately and these would have been enough to test the pouch's water-tightness and durability.

The PAQUA is very comfortable to wear and the mesh backing fabric is super grippy against a neoprene wetsuit sleeve - this means that the PAQUA stays in the right spot for a quick glance at the numbers at the end of a speed run. No need to get off and re-adjust the pouch.

The velcro adjustment arm strap is easy to use and very secure, and there is even a neat spot to tuck away the excess strap length.

I previously used an AquaPac, and whilst that was/is a fine unit, I believe this is much better.

I can highly reccommend this item to anyone using GPS's for water sports activities.

Yeah I have a Paqua too. The fold down and clip system seems to work well. Plenty of room for a GT11, phone and key. Mine is getting close to a year old now and is still fine. It will probably be good for another year at least as I won't be sailing for while due to injury.

I've been using the Paqua Midi and had no problems at all except it's a bit tight to get a phone as well as GPS into.

I now have a Paqua Mobile which fits the phone and GPS comfortably and is five dollars cheaper at Whitworths.www.whitworths.com.au/

The main issue I've had is the strap onto the arm. The paqua is constantly sliding down my arm to my elbow, I usually wear it over the top of my longsleeve rashy and this may have something to do with it (being slippery). I've had to really pull the strap tight, so tight it feels like a tourniquet. This ends up causing the plastic buckle to rotate (think of it as a long narrow buckle now) and hence I have way to much strap and almost run out of velcro. With the buckle rotated the strap now goes through the buckle as a narrow slit , rather than the wide opening , this constant abraision through the buckle has caused all the webbing stiches to come undone.

On the positive it does however take the GT-11 comfortably and is very water tight. It creates a nice airlock bubble which will float the paqua with the GT-11 in it if it does happen to come of and has a white reflective patch which makes it a bit easier to spot, however this patch could have/should have been orange or yellow for even easier spotting.

Can't really be complaing too much as it didn't cost a fortune, but I might look elswhere when it comes time to replace it which may be sooner than later.

Got myself a Paqua and GT-31 on the weekend. Used them Sunday. I found it difficult operating the button/s through the clear plastic of the Paqua. Seems quite hard to get sideways movement from the joystick... probably wont be as much of an issue once I work out how to use Speed Genie however.

You may not have deduced from Mr Dimond's erudite critique of the Paqua and it's ability to stay in the right place, that all architects appreciate complicated and clever designs that are made to function well and look simple. Hence the Paqua's appeal.

PS -It's not my fault that all us architects have big biceps.

Dav, I've had an aqaua pac as well and it slipped down too. I wear my Paqua just in front of my elbow, and it stays there for a long while without need for readjusting without the strap being too tight. One thing I hav'nt worked out is how to feed the extra strap slack through the strap loop, it does'nt see to work with velcro, but this has'nt really been an issue.

I put mine on the mast just above the boom. I rap the velcro through twice and clip the folded part around the uphaul rope as a secondry backup. No spikes and you forget it is even there.

I made some, non-architect designed (do architect's actually design anything?), modifications. I drilled some small holes in the palstic buckle and stiched it in place to stop the buckle rotating. I also used it with my long sleeved wetty and it stayed put - so I'm not sure whether it was one of these factors or a combination of both that made it work. So I'll be good for the winter.

I like qldsalty's idea of putting it on the mast, is there any impact probability where you have it? how about posting a pic ?

Actually Davmen your modifications sound good as the buckle can (and does) work it's way off the long axis. I have up until recently attached mine to the mast above the boom but actually found my tracks had more spikes in it - due (i think) in part to the rigid jarring effect of the board and mast. No problems with potential damage as head of boom will hit anything first. Make sure it is tucked down snuggly above head and on the front of mast. Can also tie boom rope through clip for additional security.
