It looks like a twin bolt deckplate system. Is that correct?

This has been around ages.

Yes they have been around for a while, I've used them for the last 3 years on all my boards and found then to be bullet proof. It's a bit hard to get hold of new tendons but the chinook ones fit, super easy to change as well.

You'll be happy with it for years to come, I haven't use the extension before so that's an unknown?

My only criticism of that design is the downhaul cleat (there are a few others like it). I had one like that once and after tearing a massive hole in my foot I threw it in the bin. How someone can design something with that many protrusions in an area that often comes in contact with you is beyond me. Hey streamlined...get streamlined!..you get me

I think he meant that he got a new base from streamlined and not that it was a new model.

I picked up one of their bases recently after snapping my tendon and denting the board, I liked the double set of ropes that provide a back up if the tendon breaks.

I agree with the comment on the cleat and pulleys, they certainly stand out in harms way ready to attack you toes. I like the JP extension, nice and smooth without prodruding bits.

These are really good for race / speed use. There is almost no wobble whatsoever between the rig and the board which really improves your ability to trim to perfection.

The only downside is that I have had the plastic clip that stops the button being depressed while sailing, come loose a few times, resulting in the pin coming out while fanging along in the ocean. The can cause the pin to come out completely and a major stack!

I just got a new board JP and because we have the same system from Chinook for two other boards that will be used only by my wife I just decided to "experiment" this US company.
I also bought some spare tendon.
THe only issue, in fact is with the exposed pulley, but the base is very large and it should also cover the board exposed to the pulley impact.
I will give a shot tomorrow and try to see if the pulley can be in direct contact with the board.

Hi guys, unfortunately I got a bad back strain Friday and I didn't get a chance to try it but I did a test with my wife and there is a little bit of exposure of the bold of the pulley and the exposure is minimal.
Look at this picture:



If I build a larger disc below the plate of the base I shouldn't have any issue ... Anyway I didn't think about this problem when I bought it ..

Your extension should never fall onto the board in this position because the foot of the sail is in the same plane as the pulley block i.e. the sail would have to slice your board down the middle before the pulley made contact with the board. Stranger things have happened though

Raffaeu, i think the issue was more to do with hitting your toe on the protruding bits!

I see, for sure if I hit that pulley with one of my feet I will remember the experience for a while ...
I have a mast base protector but I never used it. Does it have any downside effects on the base or on the sail response?

I've been using the same base and extension (except my is US/RDM) for the last few years and haven't had any problems with the downhaul pulleys hitting my feet. You'd have to be doing something pretty strange to get your feet caught under it.
The alignment of the downhaul pulleys seems to give me smoother down-hauling than I had with previous brands (at least on my current sails, different brand sails will vary depending on the system and alignment of the pulleys on the sail).
Good gear... I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Did you try also the masts from them?

No I haven't tried the masts, I always use the same brand mast as the sails I'm using. Thats the only way you'll be sure to have the sail rig as it was designed and get the best performance out of your sails.
I'll be getting one of their Carbon booms next. The prices seem to have dropped significantly since the aussie dollar is so good... better get it while it lasts!

After suffering extension failure in the 2010 LOC my grandson and I have moved across to Streamlined plates and extensions.
4 extensions 3 universals and 7 deckplates later they appear to be damn near bulletproof. Use a toe protector if you have downhaul pulley issues. With the tendons "if in doubt throw it out" One of our universals is quite old but after dismantling and checking it was still perfect.
Clean the extension every so often with fresh water and apply silicone spray so there can be no dissimilar metals issues.

Ok, I went out today with almost 23 knots.
Awesome session, I was able to try the famous "plane" and to use the harness really.
Unfortunately the board was the "piece of junk" 200LT so not really exciting yet.
Anyway, the streamlined was really good. Fit perfectly my C75 NP mast and the tendon bend very well. Super easy to rig with this extension.
