Got my new 6.7 RS Racing from Sunshine Coast Sailboards. It is the best sail I've ever had. The power up wind is exceptional. On the reach and off the wind I felt so in control I forgot I was using a race sail altogether. Best of all is the rotation of the cams. Gone are the days of the extra pump to push the cams through. They go around so easily I felt like I was using a RAF sail. I rode it with a Stype 93 and Hypersonic in about 18-20 knots. These new cams are going to be to sails, what the wide style was to boards. It is a huge leap forward. Try one if you get the chance and feel how much of an advancment the cams have made.

I agree 100%. They are unbeliveable sails. The cam rotation is effortless and they have more speed and better low end grunt than the rs6's that i had before and also thought were excellent. The 6.7m is awesome and the 5.8m is even better. I did a pb on the 1st day out and also love the isonic 50 that i used the 5.8 on. I can't wait to use these sails at Sandy in a few weeks.

HI Carl. We rarely get the opportunity to use a 5.8 here. with a 50 ltr Isonic, just about never. Glad to see someone else is loving the RS Racing like I do. Next week my trusty old 8.4 RS6 is being swapped for the Racing. I can't wait to use it in light wind and test the upwind ability. With Hypersonic it should fly. I noticed this year on the third rig I stetched it in enough to get to max downhaul ( RS6 took about 8-9 rigs). Once there the luff becomes tight as a drum. How is yous going?

I found they only take a couple of times rigging to stretch enough but still give the winch a good work out to get enough downhaul. Once rigged they look and work awesome.

Hi Guys, have you tried the RS racing with an X6. On the NP website they say that they are compatible with X6.

I use the 6.7m rs racing with x6 460 and the 5.8m rs racing with x6 430. They rig, look good and rotate excellent.

Hi waiting for wind, I too use the X6 mast. They are sweet masts without that fear of breaking the ultra light masts have. I use the 490 X6 in the 8.4 ( it's 90% carbon anyway )and the 460 like Carl.I think that is 80%. As you get smaller I believe it matters less and less as it comes down to control.
Having riden the 8.4 RS Racing my gybes have improved especially the alpha speeds. These sails are a lot easier to rig than the RS6. It is not to hard to over downhaul. If you feel your back hand is pulling in to much your probably over downhauled. No need for winches just do it by hand. Up to now I've been using the X6 boom as well, but just got an X9 100% carbon. On the shore it's difference is quiet noticiable. I'll put up a report on the boom after a couple of uses.
You'll love the feel of the Rs Racing sail, The speed on all reaches and gybes are second to none.

I had the opportunity to ride salty's Rs racings, and after trying have bought myself a 8.4 & 6.7. I had the Rs 6's and these sails are a big improvement. I ran my Rs6's on X6's so can't see any reason why not the Rs racing as well. I rigged one this evening on the X6 and it looked perfect. Infact it sat in place a lot quicker than the RS6, and the cut is quite different.

I agree with salty the X6 is the way to go for us recreational sailors. The only X9 piece of equipment I have is a X9 Boom 180-230, this covers the 8.4/6.7 & 5.8/5.4 so it makes good economic sense. It is way stiffer than X6 or X3 boom.

Took my new RS racing 6.7/x6 out today with x9 boom, what a combo. Got to 32 knots with a dirty old Hypersonic! The sails rotation and range is awesome. Felt very comfortable in the gusts, and the acceleration was outstanding. Wind was probably about 15-24.

Are thinking about the 5.8, Carl what are your thoughts on that size?

do you find the x6 masts heavy? i purchased a x6 430 for my RS6 sails and compared to my 80% carbon mast the x6 feels like a dead weight.

I agree that around 2kg for a small mast they feel heavy. However when using the sail, I assume a 5.8 ish, once going you can't tell. Its just a 'feel on the beach' issue, and once going it really doesn't matter or feel any different to a lighter mast.

The 5.8m rs racing's are awesome. I use it with the 430 x6 and it rigs, looks good and works really well. The mast may be a fraction heavier than the 100% carbon masts but are stronger and more reliable. I used it yesterday in 15 - 23 with isonic 50 speedboard and even in chop the 5.8m is sweet. I don't think you could go wrong.

I will be getting a 5.8 soon, and most certainly with a X6. Infact all my masts now are X6, and I'm very happy. Rigged my 8.4 RS Racing / x6 490 for the firts time a couple of days ago. Was out in about 10-12 knots and it rotated every time! Amazing!

With your 6.7 RS, do you find you are pulling it all the way down on the reccomended 10cm extension? I have had about the 3rd sail of this now, and its seems to be sitting very nicely pulled down to '0'.

However to rig to +1 as they reccomend would mean pulling th pulley's right together I assume...

I pull it down to about 1cm from the bottom of the pulley. This makes it pretty floppy in the leech but is stable and light in the hands.
