I was a little disappointed with the colour of the sail bag. Other than that its a pretty nice sail.

So hows it go? What did it replace etc.

Loving my new NP sails also.....

Clearly a different mast would help the setting ;-)....

They are good l know they work on soft top masts.would a constant curve mast work on a 9 mtr plus sail Evo 7

I am pretty sure these sails are still designed for a soft top mast. I currently use a Neil Pryde FLX550 mast.

In Nialls first photo it looks flat but when I saw this sail in real life at the Downunder Pro I thought it looked good for a 11m. A 11m in formula would be designed for around 20 knots in my opinion.
So I reckon this sail is OK from what I saw with my eyes at the beach

I have historically had NP race sails starting with the Evo 4 11m and an RS Racing 10m. I loved the 10M to death. It was relatively easy to rig, light and fast. I wasn't as happy with the 11m. Considering I was running NP masts I replaced both sails with the Evo 8.

These sails require less down haul than previous models. The build quality and materials have been improved considerably.

I recently used the 11m at the down under pro and know they are fast however I couldn't hold my height against other competitors. I suspect my poor height has more to do with technique or set up. I am looking forward to plenty of time on the water trying to work it out.

In buying these sails I realized that in my 20+ years of windsurfing I had never bought a brand new sail and had always thought second hand was good enough.

Well these sails have changed all that and I can see the massive benefits in buying the best equipment you can justify.

Sets nice ..it does look like a flexy top compare to the severne ..next to you .

Both the Severne and NP's are mid size sails i.e. 10.5-11.0m...Basically the perfect size sails for the conditions.

The new Severne is noticeably deeper than previous models and the NP are definitely not flat. Loving the NP colours, can see them from a mile away and they photograph well....

More racing this weekend down at Huskission/Jervis Bay if anyone is keen to come down.. Free formula class (1-lap) is a great way to try out some course racing..

There is some very good rigging and tuning advice on this video.

Pretty handy rigging guide actually. Sail looks pretty cool also, which is just as important.

Steve from the Windforce shop let me have a run on his new Reflex 6 or R7 9.0m. Board was the new Sonic 124 with a 44 or 46 carbon fin.

Wind was 12-15 knots. Was planing nearly all the time on my 7m Maui / 107 and 44 Sonntag.

Was quite excited to try it out.

Till I realised the rig weight and swing weight was out of my comfort zone!

Was not overpowered on a reach but when it came to gybing the monstrosity...

i ended up in the water. Water starting that thing is not so easy - so after about 3 minutes trying to - I decided I would uphaul it.

After another 3 or so minutes trying to uphaul it nearly doing my back in - I dropped back into the water for another attempt at water starting.

Eventually got it going again with my heart rate now close to danger level

Sailed it back to the carpark no problem but did find it hard to point on it.

Never been so happy to get off a windsurfer

Felt like a choir more than than fun.

My 7m rig weight weighs only 11kg.

Sail - 5.9kg...boom and lines 2.7 kg...base,ext and mast 2.4kg.

His setup must have been close to 14kg and that is with all the latest components,Enigma boom etc.

Swing weight in comparison to my rig felt huge.

Thanks but no thanks - 7m is big enough for my 70kg.

10kg per m is about right. 9.7 suits my 100kg
